The August Meeting of the Barbara
'I';irkman Aukiliary of First 'Presby-
terian Church was held Tuesday eve-
ning with Mrs. John E. Daley in the
chair. The program was in charge of
Mrs. M. McKellar's group, who pre-
sided over the devotional period in
which Mrs. Wallace .Ross read the
Glad Tidings Prayer and Mrs. Russell
Allen gave the Scripture lesson. Mrs.
Jas. F. Scott *axe an interesting talk
on "The Ministry of Healing iu In-
dia." Mrs. J. H. Keating contributed
an instrumental, and Miss Edith Dav-
idson and -Mrs. John Cy1mmings . re-
ceived the collection.. The meeting
closed with a 'hymn and prayer.

Meets. --The regular meeting of the
WA. and W.M.S. was held Friday -
night at. the home of Mrs. John Wat-
son: The meeting opened with the
president of the W.A., Mrs. Alex
1Boyes, in the chair, by singing Hymn
148 and repeating the Lord's Prayer
in unison. The minutes of the last
meeting were read and adopted and
the roll call answered by "a verse con-
taining the word "Rent.'' Business -
was then discussed and the offering
received. Mrs. Richardson, vice -
,president of the W.M.S.; then took
over the meeting. Hymn 500 was
sung and Mrs. Keyes led in prayer.
Mrs. Clemente gave an article on
Christian Stewardship and Mrs. Keyes
a paper on Temperance. Mrs. Mc-
Lellan then conducted ' the worship
service. Mrs. Elmer Cameron favor-
ed with a piano solo and Mrs. Keyes
rendered a solo. Pollo•wing the meet-
ing
eeting a delicious lunch was served. ,

Dies in Buffalo,—Word was receiv-
ed Saturday evening, August 23, by
Mr. Joseph• Burke, St. Columban, of
the death of his uncle, Walter Thomas
Burke, Buffalo; N.Y.' He was in his
74th year and the son of the late John
Burke and Mary Dermal -lily. He was
in poor health the past eight months
and was adimitted to Deaconess Hospi-
tal two weeks before his death. He
is survived by his wife, and was the
last member of four boys and five
girls. The funeral was hello on Tues
d.ay^ from the John C. McGinnis fun-
eral parlors to St. Mary Magdalene
Church, where requiem high mass
was sung at 9 o'clock. with interment
in Mount Olivet. cemetery. Pallbear-
ers were Geo. Rossney, Ed. Rossney,
Ernest Crgll Alysworth Croll, Arthur
Lehman midi John Hanz. There were
many spiritual bouquets and wreaths.
Those attending the funeral from a
distance were Lyle Rein, of Dearborn.,
Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Rossney and
sons, ..George and Glenn. of Dunkirk;,
Mrs. Leo Hagan, Seaforth; Mrs. Jno.

Tender Call'for'Tile Dtinage Work
The Township of Usborne, Huron Cantiity, will receive Tenders
up to the hour of 9 p.m., THURSDAY,'tl±)PTEMBER 4, 1947, for the
contract to dig, lay, and backfill the tiled portions of the Cann -Mitchell
and Wurm Municipal Drains, in the Township of Usborne. The work
calls for the installation of 11,720 feet of'tile drain, including 480 feet
of sixteen -inch tile and 1,900 feet of fourteen -inch tile. Township will
supply all the tile.
Plans, specifications and Engineer's estimates may be seen at the
office of the undersigned. Tenders must be accompanied by a certified
Guarantee to the amount of ten per cent, of the tender price. Lowest
or any tender not necessarily accepted.
