Died in Detroit. --The death occur
red at 16253 Stansbury Ave., Detroit,
on Monday, Dec. 3rd, of Bridget
Ann Carbett, of Stratford. The de-
ceased was born in Walton 79 years
ago, and was. married at Blyth. Fol-
lowing her marriage she lived on a
farm near Clinton and moved to Strat-
ford in 1916, •She 'was a devout mem-
ber of the Catholic Church. Surviv-
ing are five daughters: Mrs- A. V.
Quigley, Toronto; Mrs. F. L. Dever-
eaux, Detroit; Mrs. Thos. B. Culliton,
North Easthope; Mother M. Patricia,
B.A., Mother Superior of Loretto Con-
vent, Regina., and Mrs. Thomas Mark-
er, R.N-, Chicago, and one son, Sgt.
Joseph Carbert, Chicago. The fun-
eral was held from the home of Mrs.
T. Culliton, North Easthope, to St.
Joseph's Church, Clinton, when
Father S. J. McDonald conducted the
service. The pallbearers were Messrs,)
Frank Nolan, J. Nolan, T. Carbert, L.
Carbert, J. Blake and Wm. J. Quig-

received, and dedicated:, A number of.

Children," were displayed int)/ all
were urged to complete this kitfor a
4-5 year-old =boy and girl as soon "as
possible. Miss. Gilbert made another
chapter of the'study book, "More
Than Conquerors," very interesting,
the subject being, "Darkest Africa."
After the benediction all enjoyed a
social flour.- The next meeting will
be held January 8th jointly with the

to fifty-three dollars. This was fol-
lowed by the Offeratory Prayer.

Bob Scott favored with 'a song. The
story, "Canadian Girls in Traning,"
was given. by Sue Nixon, which was
much enjoyed by all. Mrs. Aberhart
brought greetings from. the Women's
Missionary Society and Mrs. Wright
brought greetings from the-'° Barbara
Kirkman Auxiliary. The following
are the members that were awarded
seals and certificates: Junior Life
Membership, gold and red seals were
presented to Margaret Stevens and
Doris Pullman; Karen Kidd and• Mar-
ilyn Kling received gold seals; How-
ard Jack, Ronnie Jack, Elaine Holmes
and Barbara Wright, silver seals;
Connie Wright and Doris StAens,
blue seals; Joan Hunter, Sheila Mc-
Fadden, Margaret Heniberger and.
Ruth Teall received junior certifi-
cates. There were ten who had per-
fect attendance for the year: Doris
and Robert Stevens, Kare s Kidd,
Lois Charters, Joyce Gian ' Ile, Max
garet, Hemberger, ; Marla e Miller;
Joan Charters, Sheila a,d.: Bruce Mc-
Fadden. All 'were th - a favored with'
Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary. — The
annual meeting of the Barbara Kirk-
man Auxiliary of First Presbyterian
Church was held on Tuesday evening.
The program was .arranged by the
group of which Mrs. Kenneth Camp-
bell and Miss P. Patterson are con-
veners. Mrs. K. Campbell occupied
the chair during the devotional part
of the meeting. The business part
was conducted by the president,
Mrs. W. A. Wright. Reports from
the officers" and conveners of com-
mittees were read and received.
These 'contained encouraging reports
of the work and financial statement
of the auxiliary. The Scripture les-
son was .read by Miss B. Campbell
and the Glad, Tidings Prayer by Mrs,
H. R. Scott. A Christmas "story was
told by Miss S. I. McLean and Mrs.'
E. A. McMaster sang a very pleasing
Christmas number. The officers for
the coming yeaz' were installed by
Mrs. J. Thompson and Miss Belle
•Campbell • gave a comprehensive
statement of •the duties and work of
the various officers. The offering was
received by Mrs. Jas.- F. Scott and
Mrs. F. Smaie. At the close of the
meeting the auxiliary was entertain-
ed by the losing group for the past
year. A cup of tea was served', and
a social time very pleasanty spent.

service. Mrs. T. Moffat, captain of
Circle 4, hada ,Charge and opened the
meeting by .reading a poem, "Candle
Light,, Burning Bright: " A duet by
Leis Hoggart}, and Helen Currie was
beautifully rendered, accompanied on
the piano by ' Mra. Grace Hoggarth:
The Scripture was read by Mrs. Mpf-
fat, after which all sang the hyrax),
"The Race That Long in Darkness
Pined-" Several members of the jun-
ior choir then sang Christmas carols
responsively: between Scripture read-
ings. A solo, "His Holy Hour," was
delightfully sung by Miss Lois Hog-
garth, accompanied by Mrs. Jas. 4.
Stewart at the piano. After singing
"As With Gladness, Men of Old,"
Lois again favored with a solo, "The
First Nowell," with the audience
joining in on the chorus. Mrs. H. V.
Workman led; in prayer and "It Came
Upon a Midnight Clear" was sung.
The choir then sang "How Silently,"

The funeral of Donald- McKellar,
which was held from the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Russell Scott, on Sun-
day was largely attended. The pall-
bearers were six nephews: Tom
Laing,. John ;McLachlin, William Mc-
Lachlin, Malcolm McKellar, Duncan
McKellar, Jr., and Jack Hoggarth.
The Rower bearers were Wesley Rus-
sel, John Wallace, Donald S,cott,
Lloyd Miller, Donald McKellar and
Douglas Weitzman. Friends were
present from Buffalo, Niagara Falls,
Brucefield, -Kippen, Seaforth, Brus-
sels, Mitchell, Sttford, Kirkton and
the surrounding community.
