The Late Mrs.. Ernest Dow
Mrs. 4rues�t Dow died at her home,
Lost 3, Con. 11, Hibbert Township, on
Saturday,in her 64th year. Sdifering
a :stroke eight weeks ago she had
(been in poor health and was serious-
ly ill for the past week. The former
Miss Chrissie Russell, daughter arthe
late James •T.(. Russell and Mary Corn-
ish, she was born on December 14th,
.. '1879, on Lot 34, South Tframes Road.
On June 7, 1911, she was married to
William Ernest Dow, who Predeceas-
ed her on October 28, 1941. Mrs. Dow
had made her home on the farm on
which she died -since her marriage,'
.She was a faithful, member of Roy's
Church 'end a life member of the Wo-
men's Missionary Society of the
,church.- Surviving are one daughter,
Mrs. Fred Johns (Mary) at home, four
grandchildren and a nephew, Private
Lloyd Russell, . serving overseas., and
a niece, Verna, Mrs. Clayton Colqu-
boun, Hibbert, whom Mr, and Mrs.
Dow had raised from their childhood.
Besides her' husban$ she' was prede-
ceased by •a sister, Mrs. William J.
Flood, of Science Hill, four''years ago
and one brother. The funeral service
was held at her late home on Tues-
day. afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. Rev.
Wm. Mair' brought a comforting mes-
Isage, to a 'very large crowd of sor-
rowing relatives and friends. During
the service two favorite hymns, "Rock'
of Ages" and "Peace, Perfect Peace,"
were sung and Murray Christie sang
"God Understands." Miss Mary F.
'Scott presided at the piano. The
numerous beautiful floral tributes
'were borne by Wesley Russell, Lawr-
-encs Russell, Murray Dalrymple,
Lawrence McLean, Thomas Colqu-
houn and Elmer Dow. the pallbear-
ers who wereall neighbors, were
John 'Hocking, Roy Dow, Stanley Dow,
(Stanley Hocking, Sterling Graham,
and Edward.Hocking. Interment was
made in Roy's "cemetery. Friends and,
relatives attended from Toronto,
Brussels, Monkton, Clinton, London,
Exeter, St. Marys, Mitchell and sur-
rounding district.11

A pretty wedding was 'solemnized
at the home of 'Mr. and, Mrs. William
Benneweis, McKillop township, .on
Saturday afternoon, Nov. 20th, at 2.30
o'clock, when . their eldest daughter,
Ellen Emma Benneweis, was married
to Mr. Alvin Arthur Schellenberger,
of Sebringville. Rev. William Schultz
of St. Peter's Lutheran Church offici-
ated, The bride looked lovely in a
street -length dress of wine velvet, her
only ornament being a gold( necklace,
gift of the bridegroom: She carried
a`§hower bouquet of white chrysan-
themums and fern. Miss Vera Ben-
neweis, sister ' of the bride, was
bridesmaid, wearing a British ,blue
crepe/ street -length gown with velvet
trim and carrying a bouquet of.mixed
chrysanthemums and fern. Mr, Stan- '
ley Schellenberger, Sebringville, bro-
ther of the bridegroom, was best man.
The ceremony was performed be-
neath an arch of pink and white
streamers and bells and the same col-
or scheme was carried out in the din-
ing room. The bride's table was cen-
tred with a large wedding cake and
vases of white mums. Misses Ruth
Arbogast, 'Gladys- Ratz and Marie
Meyers, cousins of the bridal couple,
serv�,d dinner to 20 guests. The bride -
gr m's gift to the bridesmaid was a
compact, and to the groomsman a
billfold, while the waitresses receiv-
ed gifts of china. The .bride donned
a British blue crepe dress with black
coat and accessories for ,a honeymoon
trip to Kitchener, Hamilton and other,
centres. •
