Died in Manitoba.—Funeral services
were held Saturday, June 26, for Jas,
Edward Grassie, who died June 23rd,
in Winnipeg at the home of his daugh-
ter, ,Mrs. J. H. Dangerfield. He was
74 years old. Rev. G. W. Abernethy
officiated and Robert Wishart sang,
Mr. Grassie operated a tinsmith busi-
ness in Portage for approximately 60
years and was prominent in curling
and lacrosse circles. Pallbearers
were D. Morgan, .W, Andrich, C. Alli-
son, J. Brockie, E.- Wales and S. Mac-
donald. Flower bearers were M.
Kearns, G. Fotheringham, J. E. Dan-
gerfield and W. M. Marr, Winnipeg.
Burial , was in Hillside cemetery.
The Late Miss Annie O'Leary.—The
death occurred in Scott Memorial
Hospital on ,Friday, July 2nd, of
Annie O'Leary, •after a few days' ill-
ness. She was the daughter of Ar-
thur O'Leary and Ellen Garland, and
was ,born in Stephen Township in
1868. She had lived ,at Seaforth for
twenty-seven years and is survived
by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kearns, of
Renfrew, •and Mrs. Louis Devereaux,
of Seaforth. The funeral took place
from the home of her sister, Mrs. Dev-
ereaux, on MondaY morning to • St.
James' Church, where Requiem High
Mass was sung by Father Hussey,
followed by interment in St. James'
cemetery. Those who attended -from
a distance were: Mrs. M. Doyle, Mr.
and Mrs. Geo. Nangle, Gerald and
John, of London; Misses Margaret
and Nora O'Leary, of Windsor. The
pallbearers, were Messrs. W. Dun-
can, S. M. Eckert, Harry Fortune, J.
M. McMillan, J. J. Cleary and Gordon
Reynolds.

Death of Mrs. R. R. Ross.—In the
death of Mts. R. R. Ross, which oc,
curred in. Scott Memorial Hospital on
Saturday, July 3rd, ,Seaforth has suf-
fered the loss of one of its•oldest resi-
dents, but one who for' many years
has filled a large place in the church
and' social life of town and commun-
ity_ Mrs. Ross had been in fairly
good health until the week before her
passing when she was taken serious-
ly ill and removed to •the hospital.
Formerly Alison Moffatt Douglas,
She was a daughterof the late'Robert
Douglas, one oT the pioneer, residents
of Stanley Township, where she was
born on .-January 6, 1861, and spent
her early life, On December 21, 1891,
she was united in marriage to Dr. R.
R. Ross, who practised dentistry in
Seaforth for nearly forty years. Mrs.
'Ress was one of the oldest members
of First Presbyterian Church, and
when health permitted, a regular at-
tendant at church .services and also
took an active interest in the was:
men'e orgpizations of the church.
Dr. Ro'ss predeceased her on. June
1942, but she is survived by one
daughter, Miss Gretta Moss, of Sea -
forth, and a sister, Mrs. ,IJohn Doug-
las, of Crosswell, Michigan. A private
funeral was held frem her late resi-
dence, Goderich Street West, on, M.on-
day afternoon at 2.30, when the ser-
vice was conducted by her minister,
Rev. Hugh Jack. Interment was made
in the ,faniily plot -in IVIaitlandbenk
cemetery. The pallbearers.. were her
four nephews,' Messrs. Wallace and
Wilfred Ross, Edgar Shunk and Thos.
Dinsmore and Messrs. M. McKellar
and G. D. Feraateon, and the flower,
beaters, three nephews, Messrs.
Frank Douglas, James Dinsmore and
Earl Barber, and Mr. John, Beattie.

Unveil Honour Roll
Many attended the ceremony .of the
unveiling of the Honour Roll of Con-
stance United Church on Sunday June
27th, The church was beautifully
decorated in. flowers and flags and
the honour roll was veiled in -red,
white and blue bunting, with the Can-
adian and British flags. The service
was conducted by Rev. A. E! Menzies
and opened with the singing of the„
National Anthem,. followed by the
hyrrin; "0 God, Our Help in Ages
Past.' There was special music by
the choir. Mr. W. R. Jewitt and Miss
Edith Britton sang a duet. The hon-
or of unveiling the honour roll was
conferred on Mr. Wm. Britton, a
member of the session, who came for-
ward and pulling the cord unveiled a
vei7 beautiful and appropriate honour
*and read the names of the young
men of the 'community who are serv-
ing in the armed fcirces. The names
were written in the beautiful penman-
ship of Mr. James Hugill, Two boys,
Victor Walden and Alex Menzies,
dressed in Boy Scout uniforms, pres-
ented each mother with a .beautiful
corsage of flowers. , Mr. Menzies gave
a very touching and inspiring ad-
dress. The follOwing are the names
inscribed on the honour roll: Wilfred
Buchanan, Kelso Adams, James Arm-
strong, Harvey Nott, Mervyn Nott,
Keith Dale, Kenneth Carter, Bernard,
Fred ,and Arvin Riley and • Wesley

A pleasant evening was salient on
Monday of last week at the hla\rae of
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Britton when 90
guests met to honor Miss Viola Dex-
ter in the event of her coming mar-
riage. A short program had been 'pre-
pared, and the following numbers
were enjoyed: ' Rev. Menzies opened
elle program with a few ,words; 1Vcrs.
Menzies' and Marie sang a duet and
encore; Mrs J. Kellar gave a read-
ir g; Mr. Doil'glass Gilt favored with
two solos: Mrs. Orville Dale gave a
reading; Mrs. Bert Irwin and Bobby
sang a duet °and Mrs. Irwin a solo,
and the teacher from 'Fowler's school
gave a piano instrumental, The Main
feature of the evening then took
place, and Viola, was asked to take
her pace on the. veranda. Mrs. Mer
ecce Walden read the address and
Mrs. Orville Dale and Mrs. Lorne
Lawson made the presentation of' a
silver tea set and other useful gifts.

,duties of pianist. The following is the
