W. M. 3. Meets.—The annual meet-
ing of the W.M.S. of First Presbyter-
ian Church took place on Tuesday
last with the president, Mrs. T. 13.

Jack closed the final meetiug of 1941
with it prayer of gratitude tor past
mercies and evidence for the future.

The Young People of First Presbytete
ian Church held a Christmas party at.,
the home et Mr. aria Mrs. Frank Klieg
on Monday evening when about 35
people were present. The reguthr
meeting was held and games• enjoyed
during the evening. A .pleasant fea-
ture of the program was the presen-
tation of a gift to Rev. and Mrs. Hugh
Jack in recognition ,of their kindness
to the members of the society during
the year. Following lunch Santa Claus
appeared and distributed gifts to ev-
eryone. The following is the new
slate of officers: President, Robert

Death of Miss A. B. Murray.—Many
friends will regret to -read of the
de ith of Mies Annie 11. Murray, which
look piece in Sehtv, Memorial Hospi-
tal last Sunday morning. Althoug.e.
Miss Murray- had not been very well
lhe last few- years, ,her passing' was
unexpected. Miaa -Murray, was born
in St. Catharines, coming to Seat:melt
with her parents at an early age, and
had spent almost her whole lite in
Seaforth. She received her educe -
Von at the public and high schools in
town, graduating at the London Nor-
mal. after which she taught sc-hool for
10 years. At this time she return-
ed home to take care of her mother
whe was ill a, number of years. Miss
Murray was a member of the Sea -
forth United Church aed also.,. a
member of the Women's Missionary
Society. Four brothers are left to
mourn the loss ot a devoted sister:
Thomas, of Sac.ramentp: John. of
Preston; Ernest, of Regina, and Wai-
ter at home, and two nieces and one
nenhew. The funeral was held �n
Thursday afternoon from her home,
burial taking place in the family plot
in Maitlandbank .eemetery., The Ser-
vice was in charge of her Mitistee,
Rev. H. V. Wrirkman. The, pallbear-
ers were Messrs. A. L. Porteous, A.
W. Dunlop, W. T. Teall, Frank La-
mont,.Dr: F, Harburn and W. H. Gold-
ing, M.P.
Death of—William Brine.—Mr.
Brine. who was widely known
ankesteetned by three generations of
Seaforth residents, passed away sud-
denly at his home, Goderich St. West,:
early Monday morning, December 15,
in .his 'Seth year. Mr. Brine had not
heen in good health for the past year,
but was able- to go about freely iftitil
a month ago, since 'which time .he
had been confmed to his home, el -
though able to 'be up a part of Almost
every day. He was a 'son of the late
Joseph Brine ared Jane Laidlaec pio-
neer residents bf., Miro,' end was
born at the family home, Flarpurhey.
For a great many years lie was em-
ployed by the old Grand Trunk Rail-
way, and later with the Canadian Na-
tional at several Ontario centres, „be-
fore being moved to Toronto, where
he continued with the railway ,com-
pany until his superannuation nearly
ten years ago. when he returned to
Seaforth to make his home here. In
1916 Mr. Brine went overseas with the
1341h Highland Battalion. He was a
member of the Seaforth branch of the
Canadian Legion, Britannia Lodge and
Malloch Chapter Royal Arch Masons,
Seaforth, and of the Hindoo Grotto,
Hamiltou. He is survived by two sit -

family home on Wednesday afternoon

conducted by Rev.' Hugh Jack of
First Presbyterian Church, of which
Mr. Brine was a member. Interment
was made in the family plot in Har-
purhey cemetery, where the Masoem
burial service was conducted by the
