St. Thomas' Church Guild Meets.—
The annual meeting of the Ladies'
Guild of St. 'Phomas' Church was held
in the parish hall on Tuesday of this
week. The president, Mrs. MCGavIL,
was in the chair and fourteen mem-
bers answered the roll call. • After
reports from all committees were sub-
mitted, Miss Holmes presided tor the
election of officers for the coming
ear as follows: Honorary president,
Mrs. c'harles Holmes; president, Mrs.
McGavin; vice-president, Mrs. Old-
field; secretary, Mrs. Southgate ;
treasurer, Mrs. Ada Reid; delegates
to vestry. Mrs. Reid and Mrs. Shaw;
pianist, Miss Josephine Edge. The
meeting closed with the benediction,
atter which refreshments' were serv-
ed.

The Girls' W. A. of St. Thonias'
Church held their annual meeting in
the parish hall on Tuesday evening
with Lillian Southgate presiding. The
meeting opened with a hymn and
prayer and B,ible reading by Jean
Hurford. Annual reporte were read,
giving vivid accounts of the year's
activities, all obligations of the year

written by each girl, giving their
thoughts on the good the W.A. is to
oneself and to others, points, being

side 'United Church met in the vestry
on Tuesday afternoon for general bus-

The regular monthly meeting of the.
council of the Township of Hay was
held in the Town Hall, Zurich,* on
Monday., Dec. 1st, with all members'
present except Mr. Alex C'rerar. The
minutes sof the November meeting
were adopted as' read. After dispos-
ing of the cpmm'un,ications, the. fol-
lowing resolutions were passed: That
the annual meeting of the ratepayers
of the Township of Hay be held in
the Town Hall, Zurich, on Monday,
Dec. 29th,, at 2 o'clock in, tithe after-
noon pursuant to the Local Act, for
purpose of ,receiving financial state-
ment of the township for the year
1941 and any. further business which
may come before the meeting. That
application be made to Zurich Water
System for water service .to be in-
stalled ,in the town hall. That the
council of the Township of Hay ae-
commend that the resolution adopted
by :the Board of Health of the said
township that all children be inocu-
lated against scarlet fever, diphtheria
and,t.'small,pox, expenses be borne by
the school sections for treatment as
follows: Scarlet fever, 40 cents;
diphtheria, 35 cents, and smallpox, 25
cents, That Bylaw No. 16, 1941, auth-
'prizing the improvement of the North
Branch of the Black Creek and for
borrowing the money to.,pay the cost
of the words be 'read the third time
and finally passed. That the estimate
submitted to the Bell Telephone Com-
pany for pt'bviding individual line ser-
vice from Dashwood Central to Grand
Bend Airport including service charge
be approved by the council, That ac-
