Death of Henry L. McIver. — The
death occurred at his home on Chalk
Street, on Saturday, , August 30th,
of 'Henry Ir,-- McIver, -• a - ; life-long
resident of this district. Mr. , McIver
who bad been- in failing health for
the past six years, was born 59 years
ago, near Staffa, a son .of the late
Jahn 'McIver and Elizabeth McManus,
In 1919 he was married to 'Miss Sarah
Lynch, of Beechwood, who survives
along with a son, Edward, at home;
a sister and three brothers, Mrs. Pat-
rick 'JOrdan, Dublin; ,William McIver,
Staffa; Peter and .John McIver, Sea -
forth. The largely attended funeral
was held from his late residence, to
$t. James' Church on Monday morn-
ing. The pallbearers were Messrs.
Thomas. Williams, E. Be Goudie, Wil-
liam Stapleton, John McIver, Edward
Gormley and Matthew Haney, Rev.
,John McIver, nephew of the deceased,
sang. mass. 'Interment was made .in
St. James' cemetery. •,

Thompson - Trout. — The home of
Mr. and 'Mrs. John '• T. Trout, 27 Strat-
ford -Street, Stratford, effectively dec-
orated with late summer flowers, was
the setting Monday afternoon for the
marriage of their daughter, Esther
Trout, Reg. N., to Mr. William John
Thompson, son of Mrs. Neil Thomp-
son, Seaforth, and the late Mr
Thompson. Rev. H. H. Chipchase,
pastor of Memorial Baptist Churc:i,
officiated at the ceremony, which took
place at 3.30 o'clock. Rev. Cl. S. Bag-
gett, Hamilton, presided at the piano
and played the "Bridal Chorus" from
Lohengrin and during the signing of
the register sang "Becausee' Given
in gxnarriage by her father, the bride
wore a long gown; of white chiffon
with graceful bridal veil and carried
Talisman roses, Mts. C. S. Bagget,
Hamilton, was her sister's matron of
honor, wearing a frock of poudre blue
chiffon •with pink accessories and car-'
rying ,pink roses. Mr. Hugh M.
Thompson, Seaforth, was best man.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs.
Trout chose a soldier blue crepe dress
and Mrs. Thompson, mother of the
bridegroom, was . gowned in poudre
blue crepe. . They wore corsages „of
pink 'loses. After a wedding dinner',
.af the Stratford Cafe, Mr. and Mrs.
Thompson left on a honeymoon to,
Hamilton and other eastern cities."'
They will reside in Seaforth. Guests
attended the wedding from Hamilton,
Brantford, Seaforth, Listowel and
Stratford.
Rowe - Arch ibald—A pretty wedding
was solemnized in St. Thomas' Angli-
can Church on Saturday afternoon,
when Jessie Valiance Craig, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. 'A$'cbi-
baidl became the bride of Osmond
Jennings Rowe, of Simcoe, son of Mr.
and Mrs. G. Rowe, of Toronto. Dr.'
R. P. D. Hurford, Rector of St.
Thomas' Church, officiated. The or-
ganist, Mr. George Clark, played the
weddfiig music and 'during the sign-
ing Of the register Mr. J. Gordon Knox
of Toronto sang "Because." The 'bride
given in marriage by 'her father, was
becomingly attired in eggshell net aid
lace over satin with sweetheart neck-
line, trtted Bodice and • full skirt end-
ing in a short train. She wore 'a for-'
onet headdress with fingertip veil',
and carried American Beauty roses.
The bride was attended by her sister,

Death of Mrs. William Bickell-,-
`he death occurred of a well known
resident of Seaforth in the person of
Nellie Louisa Freeman, widow of the
late William Bickell, be her 67th year,
on Sunday, August 31st. Mrs. Bickel'
bad not. been in cher usual good health
for some time and passed away on
Sunday. She is survived by one
daughter, Miss Marjorie Bickell, a
school teacher in Toronto, and by two
brothers, Mr. Paul 'Freeman, of To-
ronto, and Mr. William Freeman, of
Seaforth, and two sisters., Misses
Caroline and Libby Freeman. A pri-
vate funeral was held on Tuesday af-
ternoon, September let, from her late
residence, with interment -in Maitland -
bank cemetery, The pallbearers were
six nephews of the deceased: Har-
old Freeman, Erie, Penh.; Gordon Mc-
Leod, London; Thomas Silverthorn,
Toronto; Wesley J, Joynt, Lucknow;
William Bickel]. and Frederick Roger,
Kirkton. Rev. R. P. I). Hurford, D.D.,
of St. Thomas' Anglican Church, of-
ficiated. Among those attending the
