ment at Stratford General Hospital.
The police trustees of Dublin have
erected a. Christmas tree on Main

Hospital, Was able to be removed to
his home this week.

The death of Mr. Solomon Kieffer,
a highly esteeme-d resident of Bruce -
field, occurred at bis home on Friday
evening, Dec. 13th, after a week'e
ill-
r.-ess with a heart attack. Mr. Kipfer
was born •in Hay Township in June,
1871. He was married - to, Rachel
Schweetzentruber, also of Hay Town-
ship, where,thee carried on farming
for a few years before -moving to Zur-
ich, where lie had a confectionery
store for four years. He then le -are -
ed the trade of barbering, which busi:
nese he has since followed. Ten
years ago he moved to Brucefteld
His quiet, pleasant. manner won for
him many friends. He is survived by
his wife, one daughie-F-arad one son,
Lee, of St. Thomas; three brothers,
Rev. Menno Kipfer, Tavistock; Jacob
Kipfer, Tavistock, and Moses- Kieffer,
Kiteihener, and two. sisters, Mrs. Dan
Schrag,- Lectn.ardville, New York, and
Mrs. Sam Nafziger, Vulcan, Alberta.
The funera] was held on Monday af-
ternoon, with a private funeral see=
vice at the home and a public ser-
vice •in the United Church, Rev. H.
"Wright officiated,. assisted by Rev. W.
A. Bremner, Seafortle a former pas-
tor, Mr. Brenener paid high teibute
to tbe character of the deceased. Me.
Wright peeached from the text :
"Therefore, we are always confident,
knowing that whilst we are at home
in the hely, we are 'absent from the
Lord (for we 'walk by faith, not by
sight), we are confident, I say, and
willing rather to be abs.ent from the
body and to be preset with the
Lo'rd," 2 Lor. 5-8. The following
hymns, "Tbe Lard's My Shepherd,

My Soul" were sung. Mr. Sam Ren-
nie, of Hensel', sang "The Old Rug-
god- Cross." Interment took place ,n
Bayfield cemetery. The pallbearers.
-were Ross Scott, Hugh Berry, Joe
McCully, 13azil O'Rourke, John Corn-
ish and John • Snider. The flower
bearers were Will Scott, Aldie Mus-
tard, Jim McCully and Glenn Swan.

with Mrs. Robertson.
After the mild weather for a few
days the roads are in a very slippery
condition, .making it rather difficult
getting around.
Mr. William Houghton has return-
ed home after some considerable'time
spent in the hesPital in London.

Goshen W.M.S. held their Decem-
ber meeting in the church with a
good- attendance. The meeting was
in &Meg° of Mrs, Perce Johnston's
group. The theme of the meeting
Was "The World Church Pays Hom-
age to Christ," with Mrs. R. M. Peck
Presiding. The meeting opened with
tihe reading of the first seven, verses
of 2nd chapter Of Luke, follovired by
singing the hymn, "Silent NIght..3 The
Lord's Prayer wae -repeated in uni-
son and elm. Perce .Tehustongave a
reejding. The hymn, "Whiee Shep-
birth/ Watched' Tiheir Flocks By
Night" was song. Mrs. Peck conduet-
ed the study book, assisted by a nuni-
ber of ladies. The offering was- re-
