The Gifet.th 111:ssion Band held a
meeting on Monday, June 10th. The

Death of Mrs. Julia McMi'Ilam-T:he
death occurred on Saturday in Sea-
for'th 'of Julia Weaver, an .esteemed
resid:eat and widow of the late Robert
McMillan, i:n her 74th year. Mrs. Mc -
Ulan suffered' a stroke of paralysis
tiWo years ago and had not'"been able
to go about since except in a oar.
She appeared in her usual health until
Saturday when she complained of not'
feelinlg well. She was taken to the
Seaforth ci'inic and died shortly af-
ter. The departed was. born, in Bela-
tol, England, and! came with,her par-
ents' to Canada at the age of four
months. They settled in York, now
Toronto, Hater moving to Gravenhurst
where she was „married in: 1889 to
Robert McMillan, who died 44. years
ago. After their marriage they set-
tled in •the • Township of McKillop,
where they lived until she and: hAr.
alder son, Robert, moved to Sea-
fo•r+th a number of years ago. • Mrs.
McMillan' wag a member of First

Death of Mrs. J. B. Higgins. -The
death occurred on Tuesday at the,
home of her grandmother, Mrs. J. R.
Habkirk, John Street, of Mary Louise
Flett, .only daughter of Mrs., J. ;Flett,
Seaforth, and wife et James Brown
Higgins, of Sudbury, :in her 24th year.
Mrs. Higgins \vas born, in Grimsby
where the family • esided until the
death of her father twenty years ago
when ,they came to live in. Seaforth.
Tn September, 1936, she was 'married
in Seaforth to James Brown Biggins
and went to reside in Sudbury. Early
in April she became ill and was later
taken to the Toronto hospital for
treatment; Five weeks, ago she was
brought home Lai Seaforth. Her de-
parture so early in life is deeply re-
gretted by a large circle of friends
by whom she was ' much beloved be-
cause of her bright, attractive per-
sonality. Beside her husband .she is
survived by a little two-year-old son,
William James, and her mo'the'r, Mrs.
J. Flett, An only brother, William
James' Elect, was drowned a number
of years ago. The funeral took plaee.
on Thursday afternoon from; the resi-
dence of Mrs.' J. R. Habkirk, inter-
ment being made in the family plot
in Grintisby. -

• Mae Lane Auxiliary ' Honors Miss
McNay. -The Mae. Lane Auxiliary
held its monthly meeting a week earl-
ier Than usual at the home of Miss
Winnie Savauge. The combination
bus:inese. and social meeting resulted
in a pleasant surprise for Miss Anne
McNay, bride elect of the month. Miss
McNay has -always been a very ac-
tive member of the auxiliary and was
forced to' give up two offices, those
of Captain of Circle. 1 and correspond-
ing secretary. The regular meeting
was opened with a hymn, "What a
Fellowship," and a prayer by Mrs.
Currie. The business was conducted
by Miss Fennell and very encourag
reports were given by the treasurer,
the Christian Stewardship secretary
and: the visiting committees. Three
new ap,pointmenti were._ necessary,
Tihe folio -Wing officers were named to
fill the positions: Miss Edna. Brem-
ner, Captain of Circle 1; Miss Mary
Barber, corresponding secretary; Miss
Sally Wood, Christian' Stewardship
secretary. The chapter of the study
book was presented briefly by Miss
W. Savauge on the topic of "Educa-
tion in' India.. After a shoat sing-
song led ^by Miss R. Thompson, 'the
president called on Miss McNay and
asked 1V'i„iss M. Barber to make the
presientatibn of a silver flower basket.
A "very 'happy time was enjoyed by
the group in filling a recipe book and
oempiling 'a picture biography as a
scrap book far Miss McNay. .A de-
licious lunch was served, anri. the
meeting came to a close -with an ap-
preciation to the hostesses, Mrs'- Sav-
auge and .Miss Winnie, followed: by
the National Anthem.

Death of Mr. T. G. Scott, -Thomas
Goidtsmith Scott, a lite-Longresident
Of . Seal'•orath, and for many years a
well' known and very papular figure
in the life of this town and district,
passed away in Scout .Memorial Hos-
Il'ital at noon .on Sunday, June 9th.
Mr. Scott had been, in failing :health
for the- past four months,r•but the im-
mediate cause of his death was: pneu-
monia. He was a .son of the late Alex-
ander Scott, one of the first resi-'
dents of Seafonbh, where 'he was born
71 years ago, and Where his whole-
life
lholeLife was spent. As :a young man he
learned the painting and finlsihing
trade at the Broad'foot & Box furni-
ture factory here -and was an employee
there for a number of years, but for
the past 26 ; years . he had been in
business• on Main Street. Mr. Scott
always/took an active interest in .the
affairs of the town and did much to
