Workman opened ebe meeting with
singing the hymn, "0 God Our Help
in Ages Past."' The following pro-
gram. was given: A devotional read-
ing. "Prayer Life." read 'by Mrs. W.
Flay. Mrs. J. Laing gave the Scrip -
.Lure reading and prayer. A beauti-
ful solo was well rendered by Mrs.
Bechely. Mrs. Robert Archibald gave
a Christian Stewardship reading. The
guest speaker was Mrs. Childs, cf
London, who gave a splendid address
on "Ye Are the Light of the World;"
Each one have this light in their
hearts and pass it on to others. This
light which is Christ goes on giving
life, growth and fulfilment. May we
trust Him always and the trusting
.soul shall prove Christ is its life, and
Clrr-ist is love. A social hour• follow-
ed, when lunch was served by the
ladies.
Death of Jessie Stobie.—On. Satur-
day last, following a lingering illness,
Miss Jessie Stobie died in the Dunn
Aviende tteepitaai, Toronto, in her 77th
year. The funeral was held from the
Matthews' funeral parlors, Spading
Ave., and interment was in Maitland -
bank cemetery, Seaforth, on Monday.

The deceased was barn at Spittal,
Scotland, and came to Huron County
as a child, With 'her mother she
firsrt resided in Hiarpurhey, later be-
coming an early resident of Seaforth
when the town was in the expansion

Miss Stobie was widely known iet the
town and district through her assoc-
iation with the McFlauul dry' goods es-
tablishment, wlh+eme she was in charge
of the millinery department Later she
resided; 'briefly at Pfeterboro and
Smtrathroyi befome moving west to es-
tablish her own buusaness in Portage
le Prairie, Manitobaa,. Ten years ago
she retired to dive in Toronto, Miss
Sibabie always had the keenest enjoy-
ment in her work and delighted in
her suoeess in business. She was a
Presbyterian and for many years a
-lne.mmber of the Seaforth church. 'Ph.
funeral service in Toronto was taken
by Rev. John Mills and interment was
Madtiendbank cemetery, Seaforth,
on Monday, Rev. Hugh Jack officiat-
ing, Pallbearers were, Messrs, H. J.
Scott, T. W. Scott, Louis Fisher and
J. H. Fisher, nephews of the deceas-
ed. and Coleman Scott and Reid Scott.
Dies in London,—The death occur-
red on October 4th in Queen Alexan-
dra Sanatorium, London, following an
illness of three years, of Alvin McGill,
eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Mc-
Gill of Ilarpurhey. . The departed
man, who was 29 years of age, was
born in Hullett and received 'his edu-
cation in the McKillop and Tucker -
smith schools; all his life having been
spent in this district. Much sympa-
thy is felt for the parents. His young-
er brother, died in the Queen Alexan-
dra Sanatorium in. Landow ou July
1lrth of this year.
Jarrott- McLean.—The marriage of
Elizabeth Isabel, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Keith McLean, Seafortmh, to Dr.
Gilbert Campbell Jarrott, son ^,f Mrs.
Jarrott, Kippen, and the . to Isaac
Jarrott, took place Saturday evening
in First Presbyterian Church. Rev.
Hugh Jack officiated, and Mrs. M. R.
Rennie played the wedding music.
The church was prettily decorated
with autumn leaves and sumac. The
bride, given iq. marriage by her
father, wore a white shipper satin
gown with a shirred fitted bodice and
a full skirt pleated in the back and
terminating in a long train. She wore
her mother's wedding veil which was
'held in place by a lace coronet, and
carried white mums and scarlet 'ros-
es. Her attendants were her sister,
Miss Helen McLean, and Mrs. Donald
Thorn, of St. Catharines. The dresses
of the maid of honor and the brides-
maid were gold corded taffeta with
fitted bodices and full skirts with
bustle bows in the back. They wore
bronze shirred velvet turbans, and
carried bronze mums and yellow ros-
es. Dr. R. E. Shaw, Hamilton, was
the best ,man, and the ushers were
the bride's brothers, Mr. A. Y.
McLean and Mr. K. I. McLean,
and Dr. D. E. Sturgis, Oshawa. A re-
ception followed at the home of the
bride's parents, where the bride's
mother received wearing a purple
gown and' carrying a, corsage of pink
roses. The bridegroom's mother also
received, wearing black lace and car-
ry-ang a cottage of purple violets. Let-
er the bride and groom left on a
motor trip, the bride travelling ''in a
dress of rol>inhood red with black ac-
cessories and a black wool coat trim-
n:ed with lynx fur. On their return
Dr. and Mrs. Jarrott will reside at
179 McNab St. S., Apt. 9, Hamilton.

Hold Weiner Roast,—The regular
meeting of the Northside Y. P: U.
was 'held on Tuesday evening in the
form of a weiner roast with Mr. Jno.
Stevens, social convener, in charge.
Hymn 102 was thepl' sung, followed by
the Lord's, Prayer repeated in, 'uni-
son. A series of interesting games
were much enjoyed by all. A half
hour of community singing then took
place with Miss Irene Workman as
leader. An enjoyable lunch wus
served consisting of weiners, marsh-
mallows and coffee. Joining hands,
Mis's Wilda Ross was called to the
centre. On behalf of the young peo-
ple, Mr. Sam Soott wished Wilda ev
ely success in then new home.
