The minutes of the last meeting were
read with 33 members responding to
the roll eat!. After the business of
the nreettnig was dtiscuseed, a delight-
ful tableau was presented by Isabel
McKellar, Donald Scott and. Areold
Scott, and ethorussinging by Betty
Marjorie ykrigg, Alastair Wigg,
David Stewart, F. E. Willis, Gordon
Scott, Miss E. Trouts and Miss M. P -
Patterson. Mr. G. Brown was the
pianiat. Miss Alice Reid was in
charge of the tableau and deserves
much credit. Gifts were theu 'distri-
buted by a ivery • generous Santa
Claus, The meeting olosed with Rev.
Jack repeating the benediction.

at the home of Vise Witunde Savtauge
with Mrs'. W. C. Barber in the chair.
The meeting opened by singing "Sil-
ent Night, Holy Night," then Mrs.
Se' sell led in prayer. Miss S. I. Wood.
gave a lovely reading on "Christ-
mas." Mess E. H. Close took diverge
of tbe base -Jess and each secretary
gave her report of her departinent.
Mrs. Clove told about Gypsuraville
where "white gifts" were to ,be sent.
Mrs. F. J. Beahely, Captain of Circle
4, took the chair and "It Came Upon
a Midnight Clear" was sung. after
which Mrs. J. B. Russell led in Pray-
er. The Christmas lesson was read
by Miss Bremner; a quartette oagirls
Lean Circle 4 sang a Christmas song
and Mre. Savauge read a poem. Mrs.
R. Et, 1Viclienzie, district 'president of
Evening Auxiliaries, presented a spe-
cial message about Christmas. The
meeting closed with the laizpath bene-
diction, after which "white gifts" were
opened and a seeial half hour s;Peat.

" Dies in Swan River, Man. - The
Star and Times of Swa.n River, Man.,
recently referred to the death of Mrs.
John Shaw, a native of Seaforth. The
raper says: 'The ...community was
eleseked on Monday last to leans of
the death of Mrs. Jahn Shaw, of Lid -
stone. Mrs. Stow had beeru in poor
health for the past year but she was
not thought to be in any serious dan-
ger. On Sunday last she became
worse and early on Monday morning
it was decided to take her to the hos-
pital. She passed away in' the car
when half way to town. The late
Mee Siluaw-- was born. at. Seaforth, Hur-
on County, Ont., 48 years ago and
came with the family to Portage la
Prairie in 1900, where . she was edu-
cated. She was merited to John Shaw
in 1913 and' has made her home in
the Lidetorse district erver since. She
leaves" to Mown ;her passing, besides
her husband. three daughters, Jean,
Margaret 'and Marion, and two sons,
Ja ck and Gordon ; also four sisters.

A. Sherry, Winnipeg; Mrs. A Knox,
Winnipeg, end Mrs. W. Martin, Neep-

A daughter of Jahn andthe late Mrs.
Hannah, of Swan River, Mrs. Shaw
has all her life taken an active "part
in church work and was Presbyterial
preeldent of the Women's Missionary
Society ear a number of years. She
was alste a der -eater of the Provincial
Board of the Women's Institute. She
will be greatly missed by a large cir-
cle of friends in the Valley who ex-
tend their sympathy to the bereaved
family. The funeral eervice was lield
at the United Church, Swan' River, on
Wednesday afternoon, Rev. M. E.
Graham officiating. Interment was
made in Birchwood cemetery. Pall-
bearers were Messrs. J. Lumax, L. C.
Lockhart, E. H. Lockhart. J. A. Mit-
chell', J. Lainbert and G. L. Provins."

---The annial an'eeting of the Lathes'
Aid was held in the basement Of First
Presbyterian 'Church on Thursday af-
ternoon with She 'president, Mrs. Wtn.
Amerut, In the chair. The first part
of the efternoon) was spent in quilt-
ing. Reports of the year's activities
were presented by the secretary and
treaeurer which -have been most sue-
cestsful, the'seciety having more than
realized their aims'. The treasurer,
Mrs. Oscar Net% reported $383.64 rais-
ed dining the Year and a balance of
$7.14 on hand. Since 1928 the soctietY
