WESTON GODI.RICH ST. - SEAFORTH Death of Archibald McGregor.— Following a lengthy illness the death occurred Friday, December 6, at his hone, North Main Street, of Archibald McGregor, a highly es- teemed resident, aged 60i years. Mr. McGregor was 'bore near Kippen and was 'married over thirty years ago to Miss Jane Workman. They set- tled in Leadbury where Mr. McGre- gor carried on a blaeksmithing busi- nese, later moving to 'Stanley Town ship where he had (purchased a farm near Varna. They moved to the Mill Road, Tuckersrm:ith, Where they spent a few years, celm''ing last September t'o Seaforth. Mr. McGregor was a valued member of First Presbyterian Church, Senflort'h. Surviving are his widow, three Ibiothers, John McGre- •gor, Riverhurst, Sask.; Thomas, Car- berry, Manitoba; Hugh McGregor, Kippen; two sisters, Mrs. J. Shaw, Simcoe; Mrs. Grace Ross, Seaforth. The funeral, whioh was very largely attended, was 'held from his late 'home bn Monday afternoon, when the services were conducted by his minister, Rev. H. C. Feast, assisted by Rev,. T, A. Carmichael, 'of North ti•ide United Church. Interment was made, in Maitlandbdnl: renetery, the pallbearers being Mr. McGregor's former neighbors, 'Messrs. D. Pother- ingham, Alex. Death of Mrs. -John Wanless.—The death 'oiecurred' Tuesday, !December 10th, at the 'home of her daughter, Mrs. G. T. Turnbull, East William Street, of Sarah Rife, widow of John Wanless, in her 88th year. Mrs. Wanless had been,, confined to bed with heart trouble since last Sefp- tember. The 'd'eceased was horn. in Waterliob County, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rife. Her parents afterwards moved to a farm in Hay township where she was mar- ried over sixty years .ago to Mr. John Wanless, who predeceased her in 1924. Mrs. Wanless continued to re- side in Varna until six years ago when slhe came to Seaforth and muade her home with her daughter, Mrs, G. T. Turnbull. She wlas a devoted member fbr more than sixty years of the Varna 'Methodist church and an interested worker in the Women's Missionary Society. She is sithe'ived by two sons, Garnet C. Wanless and Earl S. Wanless, Viroquoa; one daughter, Mrs. G. T. Turnbull', Sea - forth; also 'seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. By • a strangle coincidence' another great grandeugh'ter was biorn' to her grand- daughter, randdaughter, Mrs. J. R. Hillis, Torontio, the'' da'y of' her. death. The funeral, which was private, was, held on Thursday, Soilbwed by interment in Baird's Cemetery, Stanley township. Rev. T. A. Carmiirhael, of North Side United 'Church, 'Seaforth, officiated. Death of Mrs. Williani T. Box.—, The dearth Occurred at the home of her son, Mr. E. J. Box, at noon on Thursday, 'December 12th, of Mrs. Willliam, T. Box, one of Seafb,th's oldest residents avid lorne of the town's most respected citizens. Considering, her advanced age, Mrs. Bbrc had en- joyed fairly good health, and her death came unexpectedly. The de- ceased, whose (maiden name was' Mary Hartleib, was 'born in South Eastlhope township, Perth County, in 1854, and in 1874 was united in mar- riage to Mr. William T. Box, of Stratford. A year later she came with her husband to Seaforth, where Mr. Box entered into partnership with the late J. H. Broadfobt, a firm which for .many years was • widely known in the furniture manufactur- ing business in Canada. Mo.'s. Box is survived by a family of four sons and one slaughter, Messrs. H. C. 'Box, A. R. Box, E. J. Box and E. L. Box, of Seaforth, and Mrs. H. Minett, of Toronto, and by four .grandchildren. One daughter predeceased her in 1926. She is also survived by two brothers, Mr. John Hartleib, of Wa- terloo, and Mr. Charles Hartleib, of South Easthope, and two sisters, Miss I. Hartleib, of Kitchener, and 'Mrs. H. Arnold, of Elmira. The funeral will be held from the residence of her Son, Mr. E. J. Box, Goderich Street, West, on Saturday afternoon, at two o'clock, followed' by interment in the family plot in Mantlamdbamk •ceme- tery.
