MANLEY
Your correspondent took notice
where the school inspectors met in
Stratford to discuss ways and means
on the economy of closing some of
the smaller schools, but did not men-
tion that fewer inspectors would be
required if that was done. It has
often happened that those smaller
schools have grown to normal and
even passed much larger attended
schools, and no doubt to convey
those few pupils would, cost as much
as to keep the schools running. •As
there are too many teachers looking
for jobs it would mean less jobs, and
as far as doing away with the three -
men school boards, who work free
of gratis and best know what pthe
ratepayers want, while municnpai
boards would create more overhead
expenses by . high salaried officials
and bring an expensive election, and
in all events would raise the taxes.
It is up to the taxpayers to consider
such a move which would be brought
on by those agitators who advocate
economy, and it's up to the public
to leave well enough alone.
