Mrs. Isaac Jarrott° of the village
visited over the week -end with her
daughter, Etta, in Toronto.
Mr. William C. Sproat, who has
been confined to the Seaforth Hes-
-pital for same time, is now spending
a visit with his son, Earl, of the 2nd
concession . of Tuckersmith, and re -
porta that he feels much improved,
which his many friends will be glad
to learn.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Glazier and
the former's father, of Clinton, were
visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Butts of the village during
the past week.
John Cont, son "df Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Consitt, of Tuckersmith is
visiting with relatives in Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Taylor and little
child of Stratford are visiting at the ,
'home of the latter's !parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Dinsdale, of the town
line, Stanley.
Mr. Robert McBride of near Blake
is spending a few days at the home
of his son, Eddie, to the east of the
village.
With prices somewhat higher than
they have been for the past few years,'
farmers will 'begin to realize that ev-
ery cloud has its silver lining after
all, and things are gradually begin-

Seaforth.
The Euchre Club which was organ-
ized early in the fall and which is
comprised of eight ladies and eight
men, have been holding some very in-
teresting evenings at the different
homes. On Monday evening of this
week it was held at the home ,of
Mr. 'and Mrs. George Glenn, of the
London sReed, south, and, a very
pleasant ttnie was spent. The ladies'
prizes were won :by Mrs. John 'Hen-
derson and. 'Mrs. Thomas Workman,
while the men's prizes were carriedoff
by Mr. James MeClym!ont and Mr.
Thomas. Workman.
'Miss Roby Bres -of Greenway,
visited during ,th. ,past week at the
home of her sister, Mrs. Edgar Moes -
seals, of '"the village.
'Mr. hnd Mrs. 'Emerson Kyle of the
village spent a day In London during
the past week.
.Mr. Thomas Kyle of Clinton visited
during,tere week with his sons, Em-
erson and Willies's, of the -village.
Mr. 'and Mrs. Wm. Ivison of the
village, who silent a few days during
the past week visiting relatives in
Toronto, have returned home.
Radia Inspectors Pay Visit
A Hydro interference, wihich has
ca -used a great deal of annoyance to
radio listeners in this community, has
been located, when the radio 'inspec-
'tor drifted into the village with the
radio car on Saturday morning. The
trouble was due to some loose con-
nection on the line. The people of
the village, as well as those in the
country, feel now as if they can sit
down and listen to some good pro-
grams without uttering, unpleasant
words.
Friends and neighbors of Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Norris honored them on
Wednesday with a reception at the
home of Mr. and 'Mrs. Henry Day -
man. The newly married couple were
presented with a buffet set, china
cabinet and table lamp. The evening
was 'pleasantly went in cards.
The Young People of St. Andrew's
United ,Ohurch held a very enjoyable
social evening on Friy last. Rev. E.
F. Chandler spoke en "Perseverance.”
As the Young People's traetta to take
for everyday living as well as in the
Y. P, work in the churCh. A slate
of officers was presented by ithe
Nentinating Gommi'ttee. It was vot-
ed on and moved that the following

Ivison. Games and contests were
enjoyed. Miss Beatrice Dayman fav-
ored with a guitar selection which
was (heartily encored. Mies Doris
Alexander gave a very fine piano in-
stru.mental and 'Mr. J. 'Morris gave
some violin, numlbers which were much
appreciated. The •girls ser.ved sand-
wich'es and cake and'a eup of tea,
after which ,eve4-yo.n,e joined hands for
the closing number, "Auld Lang
Syne."
' Mrs. Doig and her daughter, Miss
Janet Doig, have returned after a
pleasant visit with Mr. John Doig,
L.L.B., of Detroit.
Miss Marguerite McDonald is hol-
idaying with friends in Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. William Forrest and
daughter, Miss Mildred Forrest, spent
a day in London recently.
(Messrs. Robert _Elgie and !Fred
Rathwell have returned from a pleas-
ant visit in the northern region,
where they spent a couple of weeks
visiting friends and also •trying a
little hunting of game, etc.

Mr. John 'McNabb on "Tariffs," 'after
which a guitar duet was rendered by
Misses Mary Humphries and Beth
Shannon. A debate entitled, "Re-
solved that modern labor devices
have done more to lighten the work
of the farmer than to lessen the
drudgery of the housewife," proved
to he very interesting. The affirma-
tive Side was composed of Miss
Marguerite (Bolger, !Carmen Hazel-
wood and Stewart Bryan's; negative,
Miss Tena MeCallum, Blair Shaw and
James Shortreed. Judges, Mrs. Jno.
MCDonald, Rev. C. Cumming and Mr.
Wilbur Turnbull. Following several
musical numbers! by 'Misses Mary
Humphries and Beth Shannon, th'e
judges gave their decision in favor
of the affirmative, 'who won by a
very small margin. Lantern slides
on "Ben Hui.," accolrapanied by a
lecture, were very .much enjoyed. The
meeting closed with "God Save the
King."

Humphries on Tuesday.
