Social Work Meeting. — A very
pleasant afternoon was spent on
Wednesday of last week at the home
of Mrs. T. J. Webster, when about
fifty ladies niet fot the social work
meeting of the Warner's Missionary
Society of Northside United Church.
The ladies spent , theafternoon in
sewing, after Which Mrs. B. Tyer-
man conducted the devotional period.

followed by the scripture lesson, tak-

Flax Mill Ready to Start. --It is ex-
pected that work will commence
shortly at the flax mills recently pur-
chased by J. G. Anderson and Sons,
of Luoknow. The motor and machin-
ery are inslediere -and work will hae
commenced directly hydro connections
are completed. Mr. Anderson has
over 300 acres sown to flax already.
The driveway round the barn requires
more shes to fill up the low- spots,
and the management is anxious to
eecure as many as possible. From
six to eight hands will be given em-
ployment at the start and others tak-
en ,on as required, and it is under-
stood that 'Mr. Wim, Kerr hes been
engaged as foreman. Mr. Kerr has
had a nambee of years experience in
the flax business in all its branches.

er of ISeaforth's esteemed residents
was eurnimoned by death on Satur-
day, May 26th, when Mrs. David M.
Rose passed- away at her home on
Centre Sereet, in thee 69th year. Mrs.
Roes had been in poor health for the
past three years, but about a Week
previous to her death she suffered

late Roderick Ross, orie of the pion-
