Dear Editor 'Council et last Monday in the Seaforth Carnegie, Library and got -right down to business after taking the oath of office. All officials that -were appoileted, were cut in salary;' -which, is The beginning of economy and is but a'trifle on the taxpayer,. but is an ekample for all the higher `.ruling powers to follow to start at -,the high salaried officials and, cut them accordingly, ,which will mean a great deal in reducing taxes and bring about economy, and if they -are fair they have to admit that they can save more now than they did in years .past. There is no alternative -for the producer 'but take the cut -which varies from 50 -to, 100 per cent.. and it won't be -Until he lands on his feet that prosperity will begin. The .different governments are proposing -ways and means to start. the wheels sof prosperity rolling and are propos ing to establish govern a pital- ii.zation for the purpose of extending loans and credit to banks, insurance companies and other bona fide 'fin- ancial institutions in need..pf such ac- commodations. Why should that be .]one when they already have control and to ' loan money to anyone in gird slant l ►g .and relieve the roan doing business who. Would be able to pay' if he gets the help when it is needed, to tide them over a Short period. The way the government has done bas/- ness of late was to give those wo had Victory loans an opportunity to turn.the'm_over into conversion loans at... 41. per cent, and then issue a service loan at 5 per cent., which was oversubscribed in ten days, so that all private money was absorbed. •That leaves those who are trying -AO carry on the basic industry without any means to get assistance, and if the problem is to be solved they will have to start at the tillers of the soil. Get them on the road to prosperity and it won't be long before things will Pick up. We are told this year -•.is. going to be a bumper' year for the automobile industry and that sales are going to, be increased by 1,000,000. Well, if such is true, there has, to be more money put into the hands of the many instead of a few. Hare's hoping "that good times are around the corner. •--EATE!PAYE'R Council Hold Inaugural ng.— The McKillop township„ council held its.inaugural meeting on Monday of this week in the Carnegie Library, when the reeve and councillors sub- scribed to the oath of office, Officials for 1932 were appointed as follows: Clerk, John McNay; treasurer, F.
