Nae big Prieto asked. A# the chase the mark-,
et was anything' frog: 25 to 60 cents weaker
than it was. net ,tbe-•opening and it wan only
with difficulty that the odds rand ends of light
*tuff were deemed up. While the trade was
active loads of choice heavy -arena cashed in
from $14 to. $15. The latter price was not a
"repeater" so far as loads were concerned
Knit it was paid several times for odd cattle
and one small bunch of steers topped the
market at $15.10. The cattle for which such
big`prices were paid were undoubtedly good
but a few weeks ago the shippers would
have been glad to have accepted up to 141
cent* per pound for the best. Included in the
offering was a pretty fair percentage of
choice butchers which cashed in from $18.25
to $13.75 and a buyer might - ae readily
found the proverbial needle in the haystack as
he would have found butcher killers under
$11 per 100 pounds in the market to -day.
The pick among the . cows and bulls sold
from $11 25 to 112 but in neither peetion
was the general quality so high as on some
days last week. A lot of fair to good cows
sold this morning from $10 to $11.
The prevailing high prices for cattle did
not permit of much business among stockers
but grass cows and milkers and springers
-were in good demand at firm prices.
Sheep and lambs were active and firm
but veal prices received another dollar boost,
the best calves selling up to '20 cents in
spots.
Hogs were firth at $19.50 f.o.b:; $20.50
fed and watered and $20.75 weighed off cars
and these prices it was reported would rule
Tuesday's trade.
The receipts were 248 carloads, 4,464 cat -
tie, 802 calves, 3,937 hogs and 91 sheep
and lambs.
The quotations were: Choice heavy steers,
$14,00 .to $15.00; good heavy steers, 113.25
to $13.75; butchers' cattle, choice, $13.25 to

FERTILIZER!
The world needs grain and food as
much if not more than during the
war. Every one should do what they
can to supply the need by using fertil-
izer. It will not Qnly help to supply
the need but will return you hand-
some profits. Grass seeds being the
price they are it will insure a catch
which will pay if used for that a-
lone. All fertilizers are very
strictlyinspected by the Government
and all grades must come up to the
standard registered. The use of
fertilizer is far past the experimental
stage, and by carefully selecting the
brands that your land and crop re-
quires, you are certain to get
profitable returns. Good grades of
fertilizer are cheaper than they were
last spring; the poorer grades are
much the same price. be
pleased to have your order and will
do the best I can to give you what
will best suit your needs.
