Mr Earl Van Egniond,
Se af orth, ant.
Dear Bro.---Well, okl boy, time is
getting on and the Punimelet. as with
us, Again ;here, It has been very warn',
in. fact, hot at times, and& We (are all
getting pretty dark again by , the
sun, but you bet we can stand the
hea-t that is coming to make . no
for Jest winterae misery, This is
our last day out of the teenclic,
we have a cert. out now %for 'seven (days
so, tomerrow, the 24tia, we go in. again
for twenty detiee—a. pretty fierce old
spot, you bet, as the Huns are -cer-
tainly very active now on all fronts,
but we pan. give three to one any
tine now and they eas11 come ahead
rigbt away if they sa rand to, but
if they do, you take at from eine, ghey
will get ,a. bigger step than they
got at Verdun, and euppose yoa
=net already knove how they lost
there, So the lazieer has made a
eort of proposition to- the U.S. _
try and get the Allies to come, tto
arbitration, ell. Well I think he may
save adaneelf the trouble, for I don't
think any of the Allies would con-
sider anything short of a complete
surrender, At least, I know the feel-
ings talc. the men who tare elan* the
ftg.hting and they all want complete
surrender or Tight to a finish untii
the German's military power le cast-
111-iatit- et -lashed and I an, sure that
will 'be the only way possible In order
JO procure the permanent peace of
the world, for after the depretiatione
and :brut2.1 acte, which we have seen
committee by the Germane, all ,the
arbitration. laws or peace treaties out
of Hades would not band ahe Kaiser
wnen once he gets one of his maniacie
Me on, I think the best thing to
"ae is fight on and smash him andi his
vynd rerognition and rap-
ture the Xaiser and transport him
to ',tome lonely south sea &sic, to suf-
fer and end his miserable life asdid
Napoleon ef old. I think the ever will
teat yet awhile, ,some months tat leas+,
but the net of the Alliea is drawing
closer and tighter around the Hune_
aa4 the time.
