A crowd of men soon gathered and suc-
ceeded in getting the horses out without

-While returning from Goderich last
week from the fair the horse of Mrs. H.
MacManus, of Leeburn, took fright at
stepping on a loose plank on a culvert
near T. Kelly's, throwing her out of the
Tig and hurting her so badly that she
had :to be carried home. The two

her children, who were with her, though
thrown out, eecaped unhurt, although

LIVERPOOL, Se tember 23.—Three hundred
and seventydive Canadian cattle offered' here
to -day. The Steamer Oregon's cargo missed the
market. Demand was brisk, and prices ruled
firm at last week'S advance, ranging as follows,
on the bads of g.sta to the S.: Finest steers,
120 ; good to choice, 12c; poor to medium,11c;
inferior and bulls, ai to WC.
MONTRICAL, September 29.—A few head of the
best beeves were ' sold at about 4Ic per lb, and
George Nicholson bought. a oar load of 24 good
'steers at 40 per Ile. Pretty good fat °owe and
thrifty steers sold at from 13Ic to nearly 40.
Common dry cows at from 210 to3o, with lean
stock at about 20 per lb. There was a brisk de-
mand for good calves as there were very few of
this kind on the ruseket. Joseph Richard offer-
ed 816 fora very fine calf tb day, but its owner
was wanting 820 for it. Common vele sold at
from $3 to $6 each. Mutton critters were scarce
and good lambs brought pretty high figures.
Sheep sold at from 83.25 to $4.25 each. Fat hogs
sold at about 5Ic per lb.

ready for work by the lit of October, and will
be prepared on and after that date to:take in any
quantity of apples and convert thein into the
most delicious fresh cider, Parties bringing
apples can have the cider home with them. It
would oblige. Mr. Pepper if parties would bring
their apples in the afternoon if possible. Terms

boiling eider will be rented for 86 cents per day.
