from the vicinity of Blyth took a trip to
PoiAt Farnyon Saturday. They had a
fine day for it, and from alraccounts had
a very pleasant time.

—Mr: and Mrs. Hill, residents of
Mitchell in its early days, but who have
resided in Missouri for the last twenty
years, spent a couple of months visiting
friends in and about Mitchell. They

—Messrs. Murray and Grey, of Avon -
ton have invested ha a superb Clydesdale
-stallion. He is one of the largest and
most powerfully built of his class, and
weighs about 2,2951bs. His color is
dapple brown.
—An old man of GO, named john
O'Grady', who had received -injuries dur-
ing a drunken row among navvies wotrk-
ing on the Ellice ditch died in Stratford
gaol last week. Ile had b en taken to
• the gaol for shelter, having to home.
—The family of Mr. S. Bennet, of El -
ma, has suffered severely of late. A
'child died on Thursday 26t • ult., Mrs.
Bennett died the followii g Saturday
and three more of the family are danger-
ously ill. Mrs. Bennett was the eldest
daughter of Mr. R. Ballantene of Black
Creek. -
—The firm of Mulheron & Co. , of

years without interest, for he purpose
of enabling them to go int_ the manu-
facture of self binders.I They will give
security for the loans.
—The attendance at last semi-month-
ly cheese fair, in Listowel, was smaller
than usual, as nearly all the July make
had been preriously bought up. Fifteen
factories registered :3,200 boxes, but
only one lot of 150 boxes was sold at
9 cents. The prices generally asked
were more than buyers cared tq give. a
—An immense crowd came to St.
Marys to take in 2Foiepaugh's circus.

, exhibition was decidedly tante, The
flying trapeze acts were marvellous ; the
riding was good; Biondin, the Cable -
walking horse was a. surprising reality.
The rest of the features were of the
common, every day,, circus type. On
the whole the exhibition was not up to
the stand rd of expectation.,"
