—Mr. James Holmes, son of Mr.
Bennett Holmes, of the llth concession
of Turnberry, met with a rather serious
acoident one day last week in Wingha-m.
He was going home from that town
with a load of manure. and when near
the railway bridge, a dog ran out at the
horses, frightening them and causing
them to run away. They ran the
wagon on to a post, upsetting the load,
and one of the wheels passed over Mr.
Holmes' right ankle. He was at once
taken to the residence of his brother,
opposite the furniture factory, and
medical aid procured. On an examina-
tion being made, it was found that no
bones were broken, a,nd he was suffi-
ciently recovered by the next day to be
-taken home, and. no doubt by this time
is all right again.

Tue.' COlaer OF REVISION. — At the
Court of Revision for this township
there was only one appeal from the
assessment, which speaks. well for the
efficiency of the assessor, 14r. Donald
McGregor. Several names w re added
and SOEcte changes made, hen the
Court adjourned until the 8th inst.
We have obtained the regu1tr report,

rison of the 9th Concession who has
been 'visiting bis brother Dakota,
(he having met with a sever accident
some time ago), and, having hie there
taken a trip over to Manito a, :writes
home that he is so well pie.sed with
the country that he intends to diapose
of his farm as soon as he arrives home.
Be has taken up land in the North-

his family and effects, -as soon as he

his brothers to do the same.

Smith is also putting up a lar e barn on
the same line, while Mr. Jo n Wright,

Fame Son.—Mr. Charles Miller has
Bold -his faxm composed of the west half
of lot 2, in the, 8th concession of Mc-
Killop, for the sum of $2,800, cash,
Mr. Miller reserving the entire crops.
The purchaser is his neighbor, Mr.
Henry Meperschmidt. Those who
consider that farming don't pay should
take a leaf out of Mr. Meperschinidt's
book. He is still a comparatively
young man, but has surrounded him-
self with maty comforts. Such men
are nature's true noblemen, and _set an
example worthy of emulation and imi-
