—This impossible and preposterous
story comes fm San Francisco: A.
practical joker went into the electric

and turned the whole force Of the 48 in
Ruhkorff cells on the reverse -'way at

through the cerridors, and in the next,

every English woman when she gets to

They don't get_ faded and' worn -looking

get very stout, and the beautiful com-

Education:
The best education one ca.n obtain is
the education which experiende gives.
In passing through life learn everything
you can. Do not -be, frightened away
from any one pursuit. If you cannot
have anything more of an education
than a. smattering, it is better than
nothina. Even slight knowledge of
the artt's, scie,nces, languages, opens up a
whole world of thought. A little sys-
tomato endeavor—one hour, or even
half au hour, a day, deveted to the ac-
quisition of knowledge—and a man may
become learned before he dies. Learn
thoroughly what you learn, be it ever so
little, and you may speak of it with con-
ftdence. A few clearly defined facts and
ideas are worth a whale library of un-
certain knowledge.

Making Hay Without Weather.
In Great Britain a machine has been
invented by which wet grass is rapidly
turned into hay. The machine has

past season, and it is saici that this
method of making hay is to be intro-
duced on many large estates in Eng-
land. -The admonition of the old
adage, "to make hay while the sun
shines." is in danger of losing its force
in that country.
