-As the mail train from the south
on the London, Huron and Bruce Rail-
way was approaching Clinton'one day
last week, the boiler suddenly burst, a
portion of the iron work flying into the
tender. - We are glad to learn no one
was seriously injured. The fireman is
said to have had his legs severely scald -
but was not oth.erwise injured.
Upon being apprized of the accident, a
large number of the passengers walked
into Clinton, where another engine was
telegraphed for to Wingham. After a
delay of a few hours, the engine- ar-
rived, and the train once more proceed-
ed on its way.
-The Goderich S;gnal of last week
says; Our jolly friend Mr. S. Sloane
has returned from his trip to the "Gem
of the Sea," and sister isle. With all
the attractions of the mother country__
andthere are many -her princely halls,
pearls of great price, and magnates of
much money, Mr. Sloane still thinks
Ontario is best adapted as a home for
the brave and a land for the free. We
had almost giving up seeing Mr. Sloane
again, as Sir John A. Macdonald was a
fellow passenger going home, but the
good Grit proclivities of Mr. Sloane
did no doubt prevent a recurrence of
the dreadful time which the pretence
of the political Jonah would -warrant us
in expecting.
-About 7:30 on Thursday evening
during the storm, Mr. Robert Young, of
Colborne, was lying on a bed in his
house when a vivid sheet of as it were
rnolteia lightning enveloped him, passed
into .an adjoining room, made its en-
trance behind an iron cased fire
place, playing high pra,nks with the
chimney, leaving it a mass of ruins, as
shattered as the walls of a conquered
city or the ruins of an old castle. The
brackets fastened to the chimney, the
pictures, and other surroundings were
displaced and parched as though they
had passed quickly thrOugh a fierce
heat. No other damage Was done, and
Mr. Young thinks he had a,n almost
miraculous escape from personal bodily
injury-
-The quiet little village of Dasa -
wood has been the scene of an ince
diary fire. On Satarday the shed be-
longing to Mr. Henry McCann's hotel
was discovered to be on fire, but as the
fire had not made much headway, by
great effort on the part of those pres-
ent, the flames were soon subdue'
d -
but not without doing considerable
damage to the building. The flames
were first seen by Mrs. McCann about
fifteen minutes before three o'clock in
the morning. The fire was undoubted-
ly the work of an incendiary, as a bax
containing shavings, (tea partially con-
sumed, and saturated with coal oil,
were found after the fire. By whore
the fire was set remains a mystery, s
Mr. McCann did not know of an eneuhy
he had.

-One night last week a sneak thief
entered the residence of Mr. J. M. Rild-
dell, agent of the Port Dover Railway
at Stratford, and carried off a pair of
pants and vest with some $200, and, a
gold watch and chain had disappeared.
The thief had evidently made himself

work. No trace of the miscreant as

DOBBINS' ELECTRIC SoAP.-Having ob-
tained the Agency of this celebrated soap in Sea -
forth and Huron County, I append the opinion of
some of our best people as to its merits: I have
used Dobbins' Electric Soap, made by J: L. Cragin
& Co., Philadelphia, Pa. and find it very good.
The clothes are bennatifdly white and the washing
is done in much Ines time -Mrs. M P. Hayes.
" I used Dobbins' Electric Soap, according to di-
rections, and found the clothes whiter than when
washed in the old way, and in half the usual time
-Mrs. M. Y. McLean." "I have tested Dobbins'
Eleetric Soap, and ani highly satisfied with the
result. I believe it capable ofdoing all the wrap-
per claims for it, and most confidently recom-
mend it as economizing both time and labor, and
as doing its work -well-Mrs. T. Goldsmith."
"Having given Dobbins' Electric Soap a fair trial,
I think it is all the manufaeturers represent it to
be -Mrs. R. T. Coleman." I desire all my friends
and customers to give this Soap one trial, so they
may know just how good the best soap in the
United States is. THOMAS KIDD, Seafoeth,

ELECTRIOTY +CURES
Where Everything Else Fails.
Some Testimony .as to the Bene-
ficial Effects of Electrical
Treatment.
THE following parties have ruceivedelectrical .
treatment, and are willing to testify to the '
great benefit resulting thereffom jamas Lynn,
formerly of Jaroestown, now removed to Tees- •
water, was owed in about a week of sciatica, -of
four years' standing, after having ted number- "
less renaedits in vain. -.Tames Robertson, 14th
concession of Grey, cured of asthma with which
be was troubled for over forty years. He will
certify that after getting two treatments the
difficulte in breathing was rumoved, and a. pain
in the chest disappeared after the first treat-
ment. Heis now as well as ever. john Sty-
ninger, tinsmith, Bay City, 3Hch., was troubled
with gentled debility and kidney complaint. He
took a short course of treatment in the summer
of 18713, and in less than two weeks said be be-
lieved he was all right. D. S. Marra, of the
same Place, was cured of articular rheumatism
of many years standing by this mode of treat-
ment. I also, in the 'winter of 1878, cured a
case of diabetes in a few weeks, end the paetyie
reosv as well as ever. The Rea. Walter As,
of Broeksdale, was given up as ineurably gone
in consumption. With scarcely any faith, and
as a last resort, he tried electricity, treating
himself for a _month. He felt somewhat better,
and persisted in the treatment, and in the
course of a few months foiled his health estab-
lished again. Mr. Mason, of Wingham, whos‘
wife received electric treatment, speaks in the
highest terms of it, Mr. P. Mellinnen, teacher.
Grey, received a few treatments for inflamed
eyes, which were entirely relieved by two treat -
mean He also took Bove -al general tonie
treatments, and as &result gained several pomade
in weight. It is 1,rue that electricity will not
cure everything, but it is quite as true that it
will relieve or cure most of the Ms we saffer.
It will be found beneficial in more eases than
any other three remedies together, and in the
great niajoeity of eases where it hes failed its
failure was due chieiln, if not wholly, to its RaiS-
application. Mr. Alex. Stewart, blacksmith,
Rruseels, wishes to state that he has received
the greatest poseible benefit from electrieal
treatment. His health ha e been greatly im-
proved, and Ise feels confident in a very Alert
time be will be quite well. -He has been troulele(1
with dyspepeia tor several years, but in. his case
it LS now almost a thing of the past, owing to
the vitalizing influence of the electrical currents
scientifically applied, and in accords.nce with our
new and classified system of electro-therapentiee.
Ile is willing to be referred to et any time. I
ha-ve treated all the parties referred to with two,
exceptions.
