THE BEST PLA5E.
TRY IT AND PROVE IT,
THI SEAFORTII MUSICAL
INSTRUMENT EMPORIUM.
WILLSON 84 SCOTT
Beg to direct tbe attention of the public
to the following facts: They make a
gpeciality of the Best Pianos and Organs
in the Canadian market.
I THE MATHUSHEK & GABLE & SONS
CELEBRATED PIANOS.
Never before has any piano been sub-
jected to auch close eriticism and severe
tests by friends and foes as have the
above named instruments. The scale,
being so radically different from any
other, so ingenious in its construction,
and prodncing such wonderful power and
purity of tone, has attracted the atten-
tion and admiration of mechanics, phil-
osophers and musical critics; and they
have therefore been looked upon as inno-
vations by manufacturers and dealers in
other Pianos, who, being unable to find
in them any weak points for assault, have
endeavored to storm them by unjust as-
sertions. But after ten years of thorough
trial of the one, and Twenty ef the other
the manufacturers are enabled to prove
that they have more than vindicated the
highest hopes of their friends, and are
fast silencing the genes of their enemies.
A trial is all that is required to thorough-
ly convince the pablie of these facts.
THE VOGEL & LINCOLN ORCANS
Are universally acknowledged to be the
best in the market, aud each instrument
! is fully warranted for -five years. The
following are a few of the many advane
tages we claim for this instrument over
all others made : The PATENT PIANO
ATTACHMENT is a complete success;
le is fully proved and tested. Sparkling
Vivacity is by this imparted to the nau-
sic. Is always in tune. The Manifold
Pipe gives richnees and purity of tone,
-er equalling the best Pipe Organs, is prov-
ed, and above competion, and stands un-
equalled and alone. Science, experience,
good stock, skilled workmanship and
honest purpose make these Organs. They
commend themselves. They are beauti-
fully voiced and tuned.
Pianos and Organs of other makes sup-
plied on order when desired.

A Marriage In the Surf;
Last winter an elderly Baltimore gen.
tletnan, proud, of his wealth and prouder
of his petrician aneestry, discovered, to
his unspeakable rage, that his daughter
had dared to love a young man far below
her in the estimation of society. The
young lady met him at the house of an
acquaintance; .there were a few tete a-
tete*, a few quiet walks. One morning
pa6erfar2.Uict8 was astounded. Ile held
in his hand the card of the young man
who preferred a tolerably straightfor-
ward request fat the daughter. . For
. the next 15 minutes a figurative typhoon
raged in that elegant apartment. The
,- young man was aggressive and persistent;
the old one furious and. insulting. Then
came in the young lady with tragedy and
tears; but all was of no avail. A week
later the Baltimore mansion was closed
for the season, and the names of father
and daughter soon after appeared on the
registtr of one of the*hotels at the Pier.
There was with them a cornpanion, _out-
wardly treated as an equal, but in reality
a paid spy over the young lady's actions
and correspondence. But "love laughs
at locks,' age ,Weefore a fortnight had
elapsed theeraging young lover at Balti-
more received one morning a big envelope
containing a dainty • little note which
filled him with joy ,unspeakable. He
hed a friend whowas a clergyman, aud
before the eun had set that nightlthe two
had a long, earnest conference, which re-
sulted next morning in the departure of
-the twain for Narragansett Pier.
Meantime the youtig lady was always
-attended by her father or her "friend,"
and the former flattered himself that
even if the lover discovered Narragansett
Pier he would still be -unable to speak to
the young lady alone. - There Wati only
one way in 'which he could. The old
gentleman was forbidden by his physician
to bathe in the surf, and the spy hated
the sea as the devil is said to hate holy
water.. The young lady enjoyed, her
bath -e-xceedingly, and, as the most in-
fatuated lover is apt to be temporarily
•disenchantedby the appearance of his
ideal in a: bathing -dress,. the father -and
the spy concluded that nospossible harm
-could come to the "dear child" in the
water, and se -the spy only sat upon the
bank and watched. The lover and the
minister reached Providence in clne time
and speedily won a young lawyer over to
their cause. The lover then went to the
Pier, and, keeping out of the way of the
spy, suddenly appeared. before the happy
girl in the water, A few iminutes std.
heed for him to propose that they be
•married the next day in the water, and
the lady promptly consented- •
Back flew the enraptured lover to
Providence, legal formalities were quiet-
ly arranged, the lawyer invited a confi-
dential friend. as a 'witness, and the next
day, a . few minutes before noon, when
the water was full of people, a party of
five might have been seen a little apart
from the other bethers. Themarriage
ceremony had to be suspended every few
seconds on account of the breakers, and
a rippling laugh broke from the lips of
the girl when the clergyman solemnly
gave full opportunity for the forbidding
of the banns. Then the foam leaped to
claim the first kiss from the lips of the
bride, but the rest of the little company
relinquished their privilege on account
of the attention such a proceeding might
attract. Everybody noticed how gay
Miss was at dinner that day, and
her father thought, "She's forgotten
that Baltimore upstart already." A few
hours later he was undeceived. Tnen
the tempest raged again, but the law-
yer's coolconnsel finally prevailed. The
bridegroorn lingered. a few days, and
then , Went" baek to Baltimore, where
next October 1he participants of the
Comedy in th Surf will reappear in
the same cha acters in the drama of
a Grand. Wedding before the eyes of the
world.
ENTIRELY WELOOME. — The Boston
Traveller has the following car incident:.
"You are entirely welcome, ma'am," said
one of oni courteous citizens the other
day, as he yielded his seat in the horse -
cars to a young and attractive lady.
She looked, and so did the listening pas-
sengers, "Entirely welcome—entirely
so,' reiterated the courteous citizen, "I
did not hear your thanks, but you are
just as wel COM e for all that." The blushes
of one passenger, and the suppressed titter
of the others indicated that they all saw
the point.
—Two weeks ago Henry Bushlau and
Richard Holden, of Berlin, who are
agents for the Ontario Lightning Rod
Company. were committed for trial by a
bench of Fergus magistrates, on a charge
of baviog defrauded several farmers in
Garafraxa by making false' representa-
tions in selling 1 ghtning rods. The case
finally came up efore judge Macdonald
at Guelph on 'richly last. From the
evidence adduce it appears that the de-
fendants, when,s Hing the lightning rods,
gave the pure]) ser a paper which
they represented. to be a guarantee or
policy undertaking to indemnify the
purchaser of the r•ods against loss from
fire by. lightning. Upon examination,
it appears that these guarantees only in-
demnified tbe purchaser to the amount
paid for the rods, and not for the value
of the property, whiciein one case was
stated to be $2,000, while the indemnity
Was actually only $147. Both pf the an-
- cused were acquitted, the Judge holding
that the agreement made by them on be-
half of the Lightning god Company, with
theparties interested was a civil contract,
a breach of which does not constitute

well -selected cocoa, Mr. Epps has pro-
vided our breakfast tables with a delicate-

, judicious use of such articles of diet that
a constitution may be gradually built up
