HOLIDAY.—In compliance with a requisition of ratepayers the Mayor has proclaimed Wednesday, the 9th of Aug- ust, a public holiday. The several placesbusinessof business in town ' will,' therefore, be closed on that day. The Sunday School Teachers of the Presbyterian and Metho- dist Sabbath Schools have arranged to have their annual excursion to Goderich on .the same clay. Full particulars of au this event will be found in our advertis- ing columns. • pe ev fo pi b a • ANOTHER DISTILLERY, — For some weeks strong suspicions existed in town that Monsieur Frank had again embark- ed. in the business of manufacturing pure Scotch within the limits of the town. Tile rumor having reached In pector Cavan at Goderich, he came to town on Monday of last week to search out the illicit manufactory. He searched indus- triously in several suspected places, but to the great.joy of Frank he did not suc ceed in discovering the whereabouts of his mine of liquid wealth. There is little doubt but that such an establishment is now in operation in town; but those in- terested have this time secured as a base of operations a place Jess easy of discov- ery than they had oe the former occasion. It might be well for the revenue officials to keep an open eye on Seaforth for a while at least. - THE (noes.—The hay crop in this section has now been- housed.
