-A particularly sad case of drowning
happened on Monday about 11 A. M., at
the north side of the new breakwater
within a few feet of the shore at the
Harbor in Goderich. It seems that Mr.
George .find, a youth of only 17 years,
whose parents live at Elimville, in the
township of Usborne, about ' five miles
from Exeter, had come to pass hila ex-
amination before the board for a third
class certificate. Along with two others
he went to the harbor for a hath ; he got
into water about eight feet deep and be-
ing unable to swim, sant; at once. The
others immediately gave the alarm and
means were used to recover- 4 the body,
which was accomplished in. about ten
minutes after he had gone down. Med-
ical aid was sent for, and in the mean-
time those present did all they could to
resuscitate by rubbing, &c., but in vain.
The deceased was beloved by all who
knew him, being of a most exemplary
character. in the recent county exam-
ination he stood at the -top of the list in
his townslhip,. and was looked up to with
pride by his fellow students in School
