M. Clinton. - [mobTwa NEW Mu.] 0AsE SuNSTROKR. -On Saturday, the 10th inst., a little girl, daughter of Mr. J. Shipley, Huron road, near Clinton was stm struck, and for a short time her life was despaired of, but we are pleased to learn she is now in a fair way of recovery, RUNAWAY ACCIDENT. —On Thursday of list week Mr. J. Miller and son,of Goder- ich township, were on their way to Clin- ton when their horses- took fright and ran away, throwing both out with consider- able force, and seriously injuring them. One of the horses (the same one that was injured in a similar manner a short time since) was badly cut, and it is thought "'Mime to be killed. SERIOUS ACCIDRNT.-On Monday laet, Mr. D. Kennedy, of Clinton'met with a serious accident while helping Mr. S. Fitzsimons to move a load of furniture to Winfgham. It appears that the horses took fright on the lull just at the junc- tion of the base line and gravel road, turning the load into the ditch, and throwing both occupants out, the wagon afterwards passing over Mr. Kennedy. One of his ribs was broken; which pene- trated, his lung, causing it to bleed, and other injuries were inflicted on him. The injuries, though serious, are not dangerous, and, with care, he will soon be out again. Mr. Fitzsimons escaped uninjured.: The furniture was greatly danaaged. Huron Notes--; According to .,the official voters' list of Brussels, issued this year, that village contains 214 qualified ratepayers. -The Sons of Temperance will hold a county convention at Goderieh on Tues- day next, at which important business will be discussed. -The Kirkton Good Templars, ac- companied lay the Winehelsia brass band, pie -nicked on the shores of Lake Huron one day last week. They had a pleasant day. -Brown ginger ale is a new name they have got for beer in the temperance houses in and about Goderich. _ Of course strong beer under such a name is a tem- perance drink. -Ogilvies' new Mill in Goderich has been re-starthd, and the machinery in the establishment now works like a charm. It is driven by a Corliss engine. The mill contains ten run of stones. Ts -Flax sown on Mr. Russel's farm, Morris, on the 10th of May, now meas- ures 20 inches, and flax_ sown on Mr. Grewer's farm, in Grey, on the 2nd of May, measures 24 inches in length. -The Ransford salt works, at Staple- ton, which have been idle for some months owing to ciullness in the salt trade, have resumed work, and are now run- ning full blast. . -The insane woman who has bee confined in the jail at Goderich for abciit three months past, and who has been re- ferred to in the report of the jail and court house committee several timetywas removed to the asyluni last week. -The first party of summer vieitors arrived at Goderich last week from New Orleans, and took up their quarters at the Point Farm.
