There has been some improvement. in
the general condition of the 'trade. bat
the aggregate sales, especially of valuable
stock have not been sufficient to make
the season's business a paying one thus
far: We have had a fair demand for
light and - heavy work horses;' ranging
from $125 to $400 pei head, according to
Slee, weight and quality, and transac-
tions in stock of this kind has as usual
been more profitable than in horses of
other descriptions. Sales of matched a
carriage horses were effected, at from
$1,000 to $1,800 per pair, and iii a few
instances very large stylish carriage
spans brought as much as . $2,000 to $2,-
500. The market for speedy horses has
been very dull for some pasta .

The market this week is a little dull,
though prices generally have been pretty
well sustained. The failure of the rail-
road to deliver last week's shipments in
due season, doubtless had some influence
on this week's sales, causing a slight
falling off in prices, and rendering trade
less brisk than last week. The delivery
of farm, dairy, and factory cheese is
larger than last week incl is estimated to
