NEW -YORK HORSE MARKET.
- TUESDAY, Dec. 26, 1871..
We ,1 vrecord another have to o her v eck of
continued inactivity in the general
horse trade, and there are no indications
-of an early i.inlprovernent; at least not be-
fore New Year. 1n the Bull's_ Head
Market, silex were confined to cheap
business horses, and did not exceed fif-
tcen head per day. Some 50 common
work -horses have beenbought by'a sj)ec-
ilIator and shiitped South. The stock of
valuable carriage horses now offered is
exceedingly small, and they 'are held :t
strong figures, but no transactions erf
note have transpired. Dealers in all
other classes of ehorses are, as a rule,
-willing to submit to low pieces, but there
have not been sufficient transactions to
-enable us to quote even approximate
market values.
The ,sales:held during the week by the
leading auction firms have been pretty'
well attended, but competition was in-
different and prices obtained only moder-
ate. Considering the great dullness of
-the horse and carriage trade, the amount
of stock disposed of in this .waywas
nevertheless considerable. -
