THE *MING BUSINLSS on Lake
Superior is looking up as there is every
reason to beiieve - it W0111 CI
do. We learn by news coining
direct from Fort William, that a num-,
ber of assays taken fro et silver ore be-
longing co the Thunder Bay --Silver
Mining Company, gave an averge of
102 ounces of -silver £coni each ton of
rock. An immense quantity of rich ore
has been uncovered . which can be
crushed for 'thirty : cents a ton atthe
stamping mill now going up. The
Montreal: Mining Company too, who
operate tat Thunder cape, are also push-
ing on, and great results are anticipated
during the coining Season.—There
seems to be a mistake in speaking. °of,
the Montreal Company, whish is really
the Thunder Bay Mining Conivainy,.
originally tl e nine worked by. them
was known as the . Mclntire Mine,:
named after Mr. McIntire, the factor
of the Hudson's .Bay Company at Fort
tiVillialtrl,
There axe only three mines
011 Thunder Bay yet developed, and the
one at Thunder Cape, which was only
disco ared last summer by Mr McFar-
laile, is also the property, of the Thunder
Bay Company. There can be' no doubt
that the approaching spring will.
witness extensive operatiors in mining,
the miners having obtained all they
asked for by the mining - bill of; last
