Scott Woods Christmas Show Nov 20
By Liz Sangster
HRNSALL CORRESPONDENT
HENSALL - At Carmel Presbyterian
Church Rev. Andy Meinen was the minis-
ter. Joyce Pepper was the organist. The
offering was received by Al I-Ioggarth and
Frank Varley. The service closed with
benediction.
On Oct. 14 a generous crowd enjoyed an
informative and interactive evening with
HGTV gardening host Denis Flanagan at
the Hensall and Community Horticultural
Society's 25th Anniversary Dinner, held at
the Hensall Community Centre.
The evening began with a welcome from
society president Liz Sangster. After
grace by Joyce McBeath, a delicious
dressed pork dinner catered by Grace
Campbell was enjoyed. After din-
ner Janeth Sangster thanked the
caterer and Ann Finlayson brought
greetings from District 8. Liz then
presented a 'Best of Show' and
`Judge's Choice Flower Show Cup'
to Jayne Fragiskatos; a service cer-
tificate to Betty Simmons; and a
president's award to Luanne Phair.
Luanne was also presented with
a gift certificate from Kathy Mann
in recognition of seven years of
consecutive service as president.
Ann Maxwell then introduced the
speaker. Denis Flanagan soon
had the crowd involved in his
hilarious presentation, and award-
ed everyone a prize.
Door prizes throughout the
evening consisted of pansies, the
society emblem, and rare tropicals
from Parkway Gardens. A beauti-
ful punch bowl provided by
IceCulture featuring pansies sus-
pended in ice formed the center-
piece to the festivities. Bill Gibson
thanked the speaker, and Liz
closed the evening.
There will be a Scott Woods
Christmas Show featuring the
music of Scott Woods at the
Hensall Community Centre on
Thurs., Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. This
event is sponsored by Hensall United
Church.
