Stan Lee Club begins with a pot luck on Sept. 10

VARNA- The Stan Lee Club will
begin the fall season on Wed., Sept.
10 beginning with a pot luck supper
at 6 p.m.
Entertainment will be provided by
the 'Bag Ladies' (10 of them) from
Goderich (sounds interesting). The
ladies will also be guests for supper.
New members are always wel-
come to their monthly meetings -
usually the first Wednesday of each
month.
Congratulations to Danny Peck
(son of Dale and Dianne Peck) on his
forthcoming marriage this Sat., Aug.
23. Dan will be marrying Linda
Baker at Portland United Church in
Portland, ON.
There will be an open reception
Aug. 30 at the Clinton Legion.
Everyone welcome!
Congrats to Ryan O'Reilly of Varna
on making the cut for the
Canadian U18 team. Ryan and his
team will be competing for the Gold
Medal in Slovakia. Good luck to him
and his team.

Larry McQuarrie
entertains Sunday
HENSALL — Residents gathered Sun., Aug. 10 for
the Tea Party with Sharon in the afternoon. Baking
group often bakes special treats for this monthly
program which always welcomes resident's guests
to join in if they happen to be visiting.
Eric Kints and Marlene Mathers provided wonder-
ful music for the Nursing Home Barbecue Thursday
evening outdoors in the courtyard. Barbecued
smoked sausage with sauerkraut was served along
with corn on the cob and salad. Andy Bilcke barbe-
cued and volunteers Mariette, Lillian, Francis and
Rebecca helped make the evening event go smooth-
ly.
Eight residents gathered for the breakfast group
program Tuesday morning to dine on eggs made to
order, sausage, toast, and steaming hot coffee and
tea. Volunteer Mariette assisted with the program.
Rev. Marybeth Wilson led worship Tuesday morn-
ing with Belva Fuss as volunteer pianist and also
provided pastoral visitation throughout the day.
Icecream parlour drew many residents outdoors to
the deck for the "build your own icecream sundae"
program. With the large selection of toppings the
choice is often,"I'll have a little bit of everything."
Volunteer Millie Hoggarth was in Friday afternoon
presiding over the tuck and library cart helping resi-
dents with their book borrowing and returns.
In the evening retirement home resident Freda
Johnston shared her musical talent by playing piano
for the group gathered in the lounge for Friendship
Friday. Everyone enjoyed refreshments following the
program.
Throughout the week residents also benefited from
massage, music therapy, exercises and games.
