The Times Advocate, 2008-05-21, Page 8Crossroads 8 Times -Advocate Wednesday, May 21, 2008 Blyth Festival brings entertainment to Exeter By Nina Van Lieshout TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF EXETER — The Blyth Festival held a sneak peek into its 2008 season May 14 at Gary Bean Securities Ltd. The preview showcased all four plays, "Against The Grain," "Harvest," "Courting Johanna" and "Innocence Lost." Blyth Festival artistic director Eric Coates says by hold- ing a sneak peek in Exeter he was hoping to "reach out to a new group of people." Owner of Gary Bean Securities Gary Bean says he was happy to host the event, explaining, "It is a way to work with the Blyth Festival. We like giving them as much help as we can." Both Coates and Bean were pleased with the turn -out. The season opens with "Against The Grain," by Carolyn Hay from June 18 to Aug. 16. "Harvest" by Ken Cameron is next, running from June \�� 25 to Aug. 16, followed by "Courting Johanna" by Marcia Johnson and based on "Hateship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage" by well-recog- nized Canadian author Alice Munro, running \ from July 23 to Sept. 6. The season wraps up with "Innocence Lost" by Beverley Cooper, based on the Steven Truscott story. The play is a well- anticipated world premiere, running from July 30 to Sept. 6. Coates says "Ticket sales are really good this year. They are up 25 per cent," but adds tickets are still avail- able for the season.
