Themes of gardening and planting
EXETER — Throughout
the month of April, key-
board musicians were Jean
Hodgert, Ruth Insley and
Josie Ryckman.
On April 1 we heard
music from Audrey Haugh.
A 50/50 draw was held and
Elsie Faulder won.
Carla, from Seasonals
spoke about her store and
spring planting on April 8.
Prizes were won by Leona
Hern, Helen Hindle and
Don Adams. A thank you
card was sent to the
Dashwood Lutheran
Church on behalf of the
Dining for Seniors group
for their donation of table
favors for Easter.
On April 15 we had
Debbie Busby from Sweet
and Treats make candy.
Several draw prizes were
won.
Our speaker cancelled on
April 22 and Faye did a
short contest on Dementia.
Daffodils were provided by
Marion Dearing and used
for draw prizes. A sympa-
thy card was sent to
Humphrey Arthur on the
death of his wife Ruth.
On April 30 Linda Tgahrt
spoke on gardening. Draw
prizes were won by Iry
Armstrong, Martin
Andrews and Doris
Edwards. Once again
Marion Dearing donated
flowers.
Solo has now finished for
the summer
Foot care appointments
can be made by contacting
235-0258. The next
appointment dates will be
on May 6 and 20 and again
on June 3 and 17.
Exercise encouraged
Exercise continues at the
Lion's Youth Centre on
Wednesdays from 9 - 10
a.m. and again at the Rec.
Centre on Fridays from 9 -
10 a.m. We are having
exercise classes from 11:15
- 11:45 a.m. every Tuesday
just before diners. Anyone
who would like to join us
for some easy stretching
exercises, please feel free
to come along.
Founder of Exeter Seniors remembered
EXETER - The Exeter
Seniors group had 50 mem-
bers meeting on May 6 for a
bountiful potluck meal at the
Exeter Legion.
Olga Davis welcomed every-
one and opened with a couple
of readings, "Memories of
Mother" and "My Mother". 0
Canada was sung and "The
Lord's Prayer" was repeated.
Olga reflected on the life of
Ruby Beaver a founding
member of the Exeter
Seniors, she belonged to the
Exeter Rebecca's and they
were instrumental in starting
the Seniors in Exeter on Feb.
2, 1954. Olga read the poem,
"Touching Shoulders With
You", followed by a moment
of silence in memory of Ruby.
Happy Birthday was sung
to: Doris Sillery, Bev Morgan,
Lil McLellan, Claire Hayter
and Anne Cottel.
Harry and Marion Dougall
are celebrating a wedding
anniversary this month.
Minutes of the April meet-
ing were read and adopted.
Treasurer's report was
read as printed.
Judy Leybourne reported
that there are a few seats left
on the bus for the trip in
September to Hill Island
Lodge.
Upcoming events
There will not be a senior's
game euchrama until
October.
USCO Convention in
Burlington will run Aug. 18 -
20.
Zone spring rally report
was given.
May 21 - there will be a
birthday party at Huronview.

Bruce. Bruce use to play
with the "Ranch Boys" and
was on Circle 8 Ranch each
week on CKNX TV,
Wingham. They played and
Bruce sang many old time
country songs and several
humorous ones.
They were thanked by
Lorraine Alexander.
Helen Webber read "Man
Turns Woman for a Day",
"Toddler's Tea Party" and
"Where Would You Be - If - ".

Lunch and a penny sale at the Hensall Drop -In on May 15

HENSALL - Don't forget to mark your
calendars for the Hensall village -wide
yard sale on Sat., May 31.
The 140th annual Hensall Spring Fair
will be held on June 13-14. The theme of
this year's fair is "Meet Me At The Farm
Gate In 2008". Events for the weekend
include the parade, a horse show, pork
carcass competition and auction, home -
craft, school entries, flower show, art
show, bake sale, tug-of-war competition,
Old McDonald's Farm, midway by Carter
Shows Ltd., and many other attractions.
Watch for further details.
Church services
At Hensall United Church service
began with welcome and announcements
and the passing of the peace. There was
special music provided by the Seaforth
Harmony Kings. Peter Challen was the
minister, his sermon was "That's The
Way It Was", a dramatic presentation of
several Christian messages. Ralph Topp
was the organist. The ushers were Mary
Lou Hyde and Judy Kyle. Susan Maim
was the reader and candle -lighter. Kathy
Mann looked after the nursery. Service
closed with commissioning, benediction,
and choral amen.
At Carmel Presbyterian Church Rev.
Andy Meinen was the minister with Joyce
Pepper playing the organ for the singing
of hymns.

Mother's Day; also reminding everyone
that it was Pentecost Sunday with a read-
ing about the gift of the Holy Spirit.
There were special Mother's Day visi-
tors from Woodham, Windsor, and
Toronto. The offering was received by Al
Hoggarth and Harry Moir. The service
closed with benediction.
On Sun., June 1 Carmel Presbyterian
Church will celebrate its 160th anniver-
sary.
Come out and enjoy the May meal at
the Hensall Drop -In on May 15 at Hensall
United Church. Lunch will be served at
12 noon. Following lunch, we will be
