HENSALL - At Hensall United
Church, service began with wel-
come and announcements and
the passing of the Peace. Rev.
Keith Lewis was the minister, his
sermon was "Finding the Mind of
Christ". The organist was Carol
Carter. Pat Veal was the reader
and candle -lighter. The ushers
were Evaline McAllister and Betty
Simmons. Betty Simmons also
looked after the nursery. Service
closed with commissioning, bene-
diction, and choral amen.
At Carmel Presbyterian Church
Rev. Andy Meinen was the minis-
ter, with Joyce Pepper playing the
organ. Rev. Andy's message was
"The Love of Jesus Displayed".
The offering was received by Al
Hoggarth and Harry Moir. The
service closed with benediction.
Coming events

Hensall Village -Wide Yard Sale
on Sat., May 31, and the 140th
Annual Hensall Spring Fair on
June 13-14.
The theme of this year's fair
will be "Meet Me At The Farm
Gate In 2008". Events for the fair
weekend include a horse show,
pork carcass competition and
auction, homecraft, school
entries, flower and art show,
bake sale, tug of war competi-
tion, Old McDonald's Farm, mid-
way by Carter Shows Ltd., a
parade, and many other attrac-
tions. Watch for further details.

Break-in at
Critter Barn
EXETER — On April 9 at about
1:30 a.m. a suspect threw a yel-
low brick through the glass of the
front door to the Critter Barn pet
shop in Exeter.
The suspect then entered the
building through a hole in the
broken glass and ran to the
counter with the cash register,
where there was change left in
the open drawer of the cash reg-
ister which the suspect stole.
The suspect then ran back to
the door and left the way he
entered. Damage to the door is in
excess of $250.

Varna on Sunday with wor-
ship leader John McNeilly.
McNeilly's message was
on "Transitioning and
Faith -Based Courage".

Varna won the team
championship at the
Crokinole Tournament at
the Schneider Hause in
Kitchener on Saturday with
a score of 447 to defeat the
perennial champs from St.
Jacobs who had a score of
399.
Individual scores were

The Stanley Canoe Rally
was a really good day. The
committee were pleased to
have 40 canoes going down
the river. They had lots of
great prizes donated, thank
you. The use of the regis-
tration trailer was donated
by Walpers Refinishing
Varna. The poker hand
winners were Brian
McLellan Belmont (1st
prize), Chris Dayman (2nd
prize) and Breanne Sloan of
Clinton (3rd prize). A big
thank you to the volun-
teers; without them this
day could not be possible.
