Soldier responds
to letters
HENSALL — Queensway
Retirement residents were
thrilled to receive a letter
from a soldier in Afghanistan
which was shared during cof-
fee time. They valued the
response that resulted from
their recent letter writing pro-
ject to the troops.
Elwin McCullough was the
winner of two guest meal tick-
ets from his correct guess of 1
cm, for the Jan. 31 snow accu-
mulation.
The tuck cart is up and run-
ning with a large selection of
books to borrow and small
items to purchase.
Retirement residents also
celebrated `Chocolate Kiss
Day' on Saturday by learning
facts about chocolate Kisses
and enjoying samples at lunch
time.
The Kippen United Church
women have been providing
assistance and prizes for the
Monday afternoon bingos this
month. Residents are glad to
have bingos back after the two
month hiatus.
The Reverend Kenneth Allen
of Exeter lead worship
Tuesday with Belva Fuss as
volunteer organist. Residents
appreciated his first sermon
for us and hope to have him
back soon.
Tuesdays baking group pro-
duced delicious heart shaped
shortbreads which everyone
pronounced delicious at the
Sunday afternoon tea party.
Residents really like to do the
baking for the monthly tea
parties that they host for any
visitors that happen by.
Thursday evening's informa-
tion night was well attended
with people desiring to receive
the latest financial and estate
planning news. Phil Paquette,
CFP, EPC and Norm Pickell,
lawyer, mediator and arbitra-
tor presented valuable insights
into the tax implications and
pitfalls of uninformed estate
planning. Everyone came
away with a new appreciation
of the value of being informed.
The first week of February
was busy with residents also
benefiting from manicures,
music therapy, massage,
euchre, and visitation.
