During renovations, the emergency department will be moved to the south- east wing of the hospital. All ambulance, vehicle and patient traffic will be received through this area. The renovations are expected to con- tinue over the next three or four months. "We are preparing to provide for the extra volume through the one entrance and hopefully together this will be a smooth transition," says a statement from the hospital. "We appreciate your co-operation." Bluewater discusses landfill options Continued from front page ing in the South Huron site. It also decided to continue sending Bayfield's waste to the Mid -Huron site until it closes in May of 2010. Asked by Bluewater Deputy Mayor Dave Johnston if it is too late for Bluewater to join the agreement with the other municipalities, James said it will be difficult. While Bluewater joining the agreement would split the cost four ways, James said the political and public aspects of changing the agreement would be hard- er and that something should have been done earlier. Bluewater Mayor Bill Dowson agreed saying, "it was a little bit of a lapse. it was our fault." James added that even if Bluewater could join the agreement, tipping costs at $120 per tonne could make it econom- ically unfeasible to do it. Coun. Jim Fergusson said his concern is the municipality is operating three landfill sites and he wants whatever is the cheapest method. Vanderloo replied that his gut feeling is the cheapest option is for Bluewater to operate its own sites. Johnston asked, "How do we get the information? We look to people like yourself. What steps do we have to take to have garbage for 15 or 20 years?" Vanderloo replied that the first step is to get information on all the existing sites in Bluewater. In his report, Vanderloo said Correction Notice Jeep The Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge retail flyer entitled "Consumer Price Adjustment" which ran Dec. 2nd through 7th advertises the 2008 Chrysler Sebring and the 2008 Dodge Nitro as being eligible for the "3 for free" alternative rebate. Unfortunately, these vehicles are not eligible for this rebate. We apologize for any misunderstanding this may have caused. approvals aren't required from the MOE to expand any of the three Bluewater sites unless the rate of filling will increase by more than 25 per cent. Fergusson noted the mix of garbage going into the sites is also a concern and that the landfills should be saved for what they're intended for. James agreed, saying the use of clear bags needs to be increased to allow for inspections as well as expanding recy- cling programs. He added it is a condition South Huron has set for the use of its landfill Vanderloo said there will be a major problem for all municipalities after 2022, when landfill capacities are exhausted and other options, such as trucking to the United States, which have been taken over by Toronto, won't be available. "You have to solve it," Vanderloo told council. After Vanderloo said a feasibility study could be prepared in three to four months, council voted to have B.M Ross prepare a work plan that was brought to the Dec. 3 council meeting. NOW OPEN!
