The Times Advocate, 2007-11-21, Page 13Wednesday, November 21, 2007 Times -Advocate l3 POLICE BRIEF Impaired driver collision SOUTH HURON — On Nov. 11 Huron OPP officers attended the scene of a single vehicle collision on Sunshine Line in South Huron. There were two occu- pants in the vehicle and both were injured in the colli- sion. A witness, who had been following the vehicle, advised it drove off the road and struck a tree. The wit- ness called police. The driver, a 20 -year-old South Huron man was transported to hospital where he was treated and provided two samples of his breath after being arrested for impaired driving. Both samples were above the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol in his system. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance, suspected marijuana. He will attend Exeter Court Jan. 24, answering to one charge of impaired dri- ving, one charge of driving with over 80 mg of alcohol and one charge of possession of marijuana. (photo/submitted) Appreciation brunchTues., Dec. 4 HENSALL — Queensway's Annual Craft and Bake Sale drew a good crowd Sat., Nov. 17 with vendors selling handmade jewelry, wooden crafts, Avon products, candles and handcrafted cards, knitwear and crochet, tatted bookmarks, wild- flower fridge magnets, and of course lots of wonderful baking and home- made candy. Customers got a start on their Christmas shopping and also the extra holiday pounds when they visited the Tea room with it's delicious squares, cookies, coffee and tea. Vendors donated items for doors prizes which the following people won; Christmas sleigh - Elaine Stebbins, ceramic angel - Marilyn Hern, Avon Christmas fig- urine - Ina Russell, Cards - Bev Randall, bird house - Nancy Young. Adrian Bakelaar of Bakelaar Jewelers in Exeter visited Queensway Wednesday afternoon to provide volunteer checking and cleaning of jewelry. Residents, staff, and family members took advantage of Adrian's wonderful service to get their jewelry sparkling. The Reverend Keith Lewis of Hensall United Church led worship for residents Tuesday afternoon with Francis Kinsman as volunteer pianist. Father Peter visited Queensway Thursday morning to say Mass for residents with volunteers Marlette Bilcke and Betty Grenier assisting residents. In the evening Carol Lebeau played her keyboard in the nursing home sunroom,with several residents joining in an impromptu sing song while others clapped in time to the music. Lisa Stewart, Music Therapist directed the Chime Choir Friday morning for it's twice monthly prac- tice. We are noticing an improve- ment each time we meet. Residents also benefited from exercises, massage therapy w/Lori Burt RMT, physio, breakfast group, and euchre and manicures through- out the week. Coffee and current events group was pleased to see their letter to the editor published in the TA. Eight volunteer auxiliary members along with Programs and Restorative Care staff attended the Alzheimer Society's Dementia 2007 Workshop at Clinton's Betty Cardno Centre Tues., Nov. 13 for a very informative presentation.
