LUCAN - The
Lucan-Ilderton Jets
remain undefeated
after two more wins
on the weekend,
including a hard
fought, last minute
1-0 win over the vis-
iting Clinton Radars
Saturday night.
The Jets hosted
Thedford on Sunday,
and the visitors
stayed in the game
until Lucan-Ilderton
put it away with
three late goals for a
7-3 win.
The wins leave the
Jets with an 8-0-0
record and 16
points, with Clinton
second in the
Southern conference
with 12.
Jets general man-
ager Rob Andrews
said both goalies
were outstanding
Saturday night.
The game wasn't
decided until with
eight minutes left,
Kelly Thomson took
a pass from Todd
Hunt and went in to
score.
Facing Thedford
on Sunday, the Jets
were up 2-1 after
the first period on

Lucan-Ilderton was
up 4-2 after two
periods with goals
from Wilson and
Mark Landon.
Thedford made it a
4-3 game in the
third before the Jets
put the game away
with three goals
from Corey Smith,
Craig Black and
Scott Phillips in the
last five minutes for
the 7-3 win.
Andrews said he
thinks this year's
Jets team is the best
he has seen in four
years with both
more size and
younger players.
"The coaches are
just ecstatic that the
team is like this,"
said Andrews.
But he added,
"we're going to lose
eventually and they
we'll see how good a
team it really is."
The Jets are in
Tavistock Saturday
to face the Royals at
8:30 p.m.
On Nov. 17, the
Jets will play in
Ilderton, which will
include a ceremony
to honour former
Jets player Roy
Davies, who was
killed in a car acci-
dent earlier this
year.
ZMAA says thank you for season Indoor baseball facility
ZURICH - The Zurich
Minor Athletic Association
(ZMAA) Ball Committee
had their 2007 season
wrap up and planning
meeting Oct. 22.
The ZMAA was pleased
to have over 100 boys and
girls participating in
seven divisions.
Their co-ed introductory
program, rallyball and co-
ed house league played
weekly in Zurich.
In addition, they had
five teams who participat-
ed in league play.
Both boys and girls pee-
wee teams won league
championships.
Mite girls, Bantam girls
and Bantam boys all fin-
ished second, losing in the
championship game of
their league tournament.
Another highlight was
three teams competing in
Ontario Rural Softball
Association C playdowns.
The Bantam girls
reached the Ontario finals
before losing to a strong
Douro team.
The ZMAA players con-
gratulates all of its players
on great seasons.
The organizations says
it had an excellent group
of coaches and parents
who should be thanked
for their dedication and
contributions.
The ZMAA thanks them
for the support and the
sponsorship received from
local businesses which
helped make their 2007
season successful.
STRATFORD - The
Stratford Nationals
Baseball Academy indoor
training facility in
Stratford will open Nov.
10 at 818 Erie Street with
a wide variety of training
facilities, says owner
Shawn Gillespie.
The academy is 8,400
square feet and features
astroturf, batting cages,
pitching machines and a
radar gun.
There will also be base-
ball and softball camps
starting Nov. 107 as well
as instruction and facility
rentals for teams and
individuals and speciality
clinics.
