Missing child found by citizen
GRAND BEND — Lambton OPP report that a three-year-old boy was found safe
and unharmed after he wandered over four kilometres from where he was last
seen. On Sept. 2, shortly after 5 p.m., the boy was reported missing by his parents to
Grand Bend beach lifeguards. The public beach area where the child was last seen
was searched extensively. OPP were called at around 6 p.m. to assist in the search.
Six officers including OPP Canine, Emergency Response, Community Directed Patrol
Unit and the Marine Unit responded to the area to assist in broadening the search.
At around 6:30 p.m., the OPP Communications Centre in London received a call
from a citizen reporting that they had found a lost child. An elderly man walking
along the beach had located the child and brought him to the callers cottage so
police could be called. The little boy had wandered more than four kilometres north
along the beach from where he was last seen. He was returned to his mother and
father safe and sound.
