Imeson, shackled and under heavy police guard, was led into the Goderich Courthouse where he was formally charged with the murders. He had already been charged Aug. 2 with first-degree murder in Windsor for the strangling death of Windsor bartender Carlos Rivera. Imeson was arrested July 31 near Portage - du -Fort, Quebec, on the Ottawa River after a massive manhunt that resulted in front-page headlines from daily newspapers across the country and brought the cameras of "America's Most Wanted" to the area. A crowd of about 50 waited for Imeson out- side the courthouse. As police led him in the front door one man yelled, "I hope you rot in hell you useless piece of crap." Another yelled, "murderer," while others booed. Imeson looked straight ahead the entire time and showed no emotion outside or in the courtroom. Imeson, clean-shaven, wore a large white T-shirt, green baggy pants and blue and white sneakers. Police presence was heavy Friday, as five officers led Imeson into the courtroom, while others worked security at the doors. Justice of the peace P. Aguirre read the first-degree murder charges against Imeson for the deaths of the Regiers in their Mount Carmel -area home July 22-23. When Aguirre asked Imeson if he understood the charges, the 22 year old from Windsor nod- ded his head and quietly said, "Yes." The crowd outside the courthouse was mostly quiet as Imeson was led back into a police van, although one youngster shouted an obscenity at him. (photo/Scott Nixon) Bluewater buys into sewer project By Pat Bolen TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF VARNA — "This is a project which moves Bluewater to a sustainable community," said Bluewater Coun. Jim Fergusson Monday night as council unanimously voted to approve Bluewater's participation in the Grand Bend and Area Sanitary Sewage Servicing Master Plan and to buy capacity in the upgraded facility that will service the lakeshore and Dashwood areas. The decision followed a public meeting Aug. 4 in Hensall when area residents voiced their opin- ions on the project, with most in support. A letter in support of the project from Dashwood residents Bob and Jim Hoffman was received by Bluewater council Aug. 13 saying that if the project was not approved, a more expensive route would have to be taken in the future. Bluewater's share of the $12 4 million treat- ment facility is $2.3 million (based on sewage flow) with another $2.3 million for a shared sys- See "YES" page 3 Headings change for TA classifieds T -A readers will notice several changes in the way we present our classified ads beginning this week.
