(photo/sub- mitted) Exeter hosting OBAs EXETER — The Exeter Senior Rookie Eagles were victorious in two games last week, mak- ing their season record 16 wins and eight loss- es. On July 23, the Eagles topped Goderich 12-9 and on July 24 beat Stratford in a 19-18 thriller. In the Stratford game, the team was down 18-10 after five innings and still down 18-16 with two outs in the last inning before rallying with five straight hits and a 19-18 victory. The team is preparing to host the O.B.A. Senior Rookie "D" provincial championship on Labour Day weekend and coach Dave Reid says the team is making improvements at the right time. Reid states that while the team has had some trouble in tournaments, many of their losses have come against teams from significantly larger centres, includ- ing Waterloo, Oshawa and Mississauga. Reid states that the team is a strong hitting team and is making great improvements in the field as well. The convenor for the O.B.A. tournament is Jeff Keller. He would welcome any volunteers interested in assisting with this event. Tournament responsi- bilities include field maintenance, food preparation and food service and advertising. Keller states it has been many years since Exeter hosted an O.B.A. tour- nament and he wants to ensure that the players, parents and fans enjoy the experience. The tournament runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 and the team and orga- nizers are hoping they will have many fans in the South Huron com- munity attend and sup- port the players. The Eagles are coached Reid, Jeff Butler, Brent Dawson and Dwayne Overholt. The players are John Baker, Jaidyn Butler, Chad Dawson, Raymond Delbridge, Evan Hayter, Jacob Hrudka, Justin McCarter, Nathan McDonald, Ryan Neeb, Nick Overholt, Brett Reid and Ben Turner. By Pat Bolen TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF GRAND BEND — It's been 10 years, hundreds of kilometres biked, thousands of dollars raised and Grand Bend rider Bob Case is still going strong on the MS Bike Tour to raise money for multiple sclerosis research. Case again made the 150 kilo- metre trip from Grand Bend to London and back again on the weekend, raising $10,000 to help the tour raise a record $745,000. Fifty three-year-old Case said he got involved with the tour because it goes by his house. "I'd see them go by on a Saturday morning and think that would look like fun." And when his sister-in-law was diagnosed with MS, Case decided it would be a good thing to do. Although he starts out with a team of riders called 'MS Sucks', Case says with everyone riding at a different pace, he usually ends up with someone he does- n't know. Case says he practices for the tour a lot and despite the dis- tance doesn't find it too difficult although he is tired by the end. "I came home last year in under three hours," says Case. The first year he did it Case said there were around 180 rid- ers and this year there was a record 1,270 riders making the trip.
