VARNA CORRESPONDENT
VARNA - Pastor Elly Van
Bergen welcomed everyone to
the church service and picnic on
Sunday. Guests that were
cousins of Marg and Gerald
Hayter, Doug and Beth, from
Stratford were welcomed as
well as Geraldine and Norm
Eckel's grandchildren Kendra
and Kaden. Mike and Leanne
Colclough were there with
Morgan and week old Tyler and
baby Weston
Rathwell was also
there.
Birthday wishes were extend-
ed to Rachel Hill on July 29 as
well as Tom Rathwell.
Congregational prayers are with
Paul and Elaine Stephenson on
the passing of Paul's mother
Margaret Stephenson, as well as
Scott and Kelly Rathwell on the
tragic death of Kelly's grand-
parents.
Willi Laurie shared her gift of
music and sang two numbers.
The children's time was on
the "Five Finger Prayer" and
the message Pastor Elly gave
was "Lord Teach Us How to
Pray". She took a deck of cards
and told us how each card
resembled God. The four
reminds us of the four seasons,
the 10 is for the 10
Commandments, the King is
Lord of all. There are 365 spots
on a whole deck of cards resem-
bling the 365 days of the year,
52 cards in a deck for the 52
weeks of the year and four suits
resembling the four seasons.
Prayers were also said for
Margie Elliott.

MUNICIPALITY OF SOUTH HURON
MUNICIPAL CLASS ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A TRANSMISSION WATERMAIN
COMMUNITY OF EXETER - THAMES ROAD WEST/DASHWOOD ROAD
NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT
THE PROJECT:
The Municipality of South Huron is planning to construct a transmission watermain along the routes of Thames
Road West and Dashwood Road (County of Huron Road No. 83) to connect the Exeter municipalwater system to
the water supply pipeline being constructed to service the community of Hensall. Completion of this project would
provide the Exeter water system with an additional connection to the Lake Huron Primary Water Supply System
(LHPWSS) supply mains (a LHPWSS connection to Exeter is currently being constructed along Huron Street in
conjunction with the Exeter-Hensall pipeline project).
An additional LHPWSS connection would have several operational benefits for the municipal water system,
including:
• Increasing the water pressure available to system customers north of the Ausable River;
• Improving the flow of water throughout the distribution system;
• Enhancing the overall security of the water supply.
At this time, the Municipality has identified a potential route for the proposed transmission watermain. The route
would extend approximately .9 km along the Dashwood Road/ Thames Road West road allowance from the
Exeter-Hensall pipeline near Airport Line easterly to a point of connection at McConnell Street (refer to the
accompanying key plan). The watermain would be constructed entirely within the existing road allowance.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCREENING PROCESS:
The project is following the planning process established for Schedule B activities under the Municipal Class
Environmental Assessment (Class EA) document. Schedule B projects are approved subject to a screening process.
The purpose of the screening process is to identify any potential environmental impacts associated with the
proposal and to plan for appropriate mitigation of any impacts. This process includes consultation with the public,
stakeholders and review agencies.
PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT:
Public input and comment are invited for incorporation into the planning and design of this project and will be
received by the following contact until August 22, 200. For further information, please contact the consulting
engineers: B.M. Ross and Associates, 62 North Street, Goderich, Ontario, NA 2T4. Telephone (59) 524-264.
Fax (59) 524-4403. Attention: Scott Allen, Planner. (e-mail: sallen@bmross.net).
Subject to comments received
and the receipt of necessary
approvals, the Municipality of
South Huron intends to
proceed with the
implementation of this project.
