Don't drink any coffee, tea or milk for at least an hour and a half afterwards because these drinks can inhibit the absorption of the iron. However, beverages containing vitamin C, like orange juice, can enhance the absorption of iron. Speaking of iron absorption, the iron found in red meat, called heme iron, is the easiest to absorb. When eating red meat, keep in mind that a healthy serving size is 3 oz. (about the size of a deck of cards(. Some medications can mimic the symptoms of dementia. The class of drugs called anticholinergics can cause confusion, memory loss, and in the ability to think clearly.
