Several neighbours were fearful, leav-
ing the area while the police continued its
investigation.
Bronson Line neighbour Derek Lorentz,
who has three children, says he's
shocked as to what has enfolded in this
quite rural area, explaining that he was
working just down the street from the
farmhouse that day at McCann Redi Mix.
"We did know the victims. They went to
the same church as everybody," says
Lorentz. "I'm very upset and very fear-
ful," he adds.
Shipka resident and South Huron Ward
1 Coun. Jim Dietrich, who also says he
knew the victims all of his life, moved his
88 -year-old mother into his home for the
night.
"This is scary as hell," says Dietrich.
"It's pretty scary to happen here."
OPP were doing thorough searches of
any homes in the immediate
advis-
ing residents that if they did
not feel safe to advise police
and they would secure their
home and property.
Walraven says residents
should always have their
vehicles and homes locked
and report any suspicious
activity.
"Do not hesitate to call police," says
Walraven.
Police are continuing its search for
Imeson and warning the public to keep a
look out for a stolen silver GMC Sierra
crew cab pickup with the licence plate
number JK 8334, which belonged to Bill
Regier.

going to print yesterday
(Tuesday).

area resident that the OPP
were still at the crime scene
yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

beginning of the investigation
and is unable to confirm sev-
eral details pending on notification of

blow to the community.
Bill Regier is a retired custodian at Our
Lady of Mount Carmel school. They also
attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Roman Catholic church for years.
The Regiers, both in their 70s, were
well-known to the community, operating
a sheep farm, although downsizing in
recent years.
Bill and Helene had six children, five
boys and one girl and several grandchil-
dren, many in the area.
Walraven says, "Family members in the
area will be provided counselling services

National warrant issued after Stephen search
By Nina Van Lieshout
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
STEPHEN — OPP called off a search early Sunday
morning in Stephen Township in the Municipality of
South Huron for a slaying suspect but issued a Canada -
wide arrest warrant for 22 -year-old Jesse Norman
Imeson of Windsor.
Imeson is wanted for first-degree murder after 26 -
year -old Carlos Rivera, of LaSalle was found strangled
to death in Imeson's Windsor apartment July 19.
Imeson is also a person of interest in a double homi-
cide at a farmhouse on Bronson Line in Stephen
Township between Dashwood and Mount Carmel.
Police were searching for Imeson in Stephen
Township, north of Mount Carmel Drive from Ausable
Line to Parr Line, a five -kilometre -wide stretch of land,
a search, which began last Saturday.
Members of the Huron OPP, OPP Western Region
Response team, Western Region K-9 conducted the
search and are still reminding residents to continue to
use caution.
Huron County Const. Jeff Walraven says, "We haven't
confirmed that he has left the area," adding "residents
should always be locking their vehicles and houses."
OPP are also asking residents to avoid picking up
hitchhikers and to contact the police if they see or hear
any suspicious activity.
One woman who lives on Parr Line and who did not
want to be identified says she saw the OPP travelling up
and down her road.
"I really didn't like it. It's different when somebody is
on the loose," adding also that she wasn't pleased that
the OPP did not warn her.
"I was never told anything. I didn't like that I didn't get
warned," she says, adding that, "Hopefully they catch
him."
Walraven says any residents in the five -kilometre -
wide stretch of land were warned, "I can absolutely con-
firm that," he says, adding that, "officers also stopped
vehicles going to and from."
Walraven says the only reason residents could have
been missed is if they were not at home during the
search.
Walraven also says the OPP sent out an immediate
release regarding the search and officers put into affect
the public awareness standard as told in a situation like
this.
But one Parr Line woman, who also did not want to be
identified and lives in the five -kilometre -wide search
area says, "Nobody came and said anything to us,"
adding that she was given the information from a neigh-
bour.
Video surveillance footage was found of Imeson at a
bar in Grand Bend last week. The OPP scoured a farm
and brush in Stephen Township area last Saturday
night after receiving a tip that Imeson was there.
After Imeson was not found, the five -kilometre -wide
search was conducted.
Imeson is approximately six foot one, 200 pounds,
with very short almost shaved brown hair, brown eyes
and numerous tattoos on his arms.
Imeson is considered armed and dangerous. The
Huron OPP are asking anyone with information on
Imeson to not approach the suspect but to call 911 or
the OPP as soon as possible.
