A hefty cheque — South Huron Hospital's $1.6 million fundraising campaign has risen to $775,000.Above centre Goderich Aircraft Inc. president Blaine Field presents a $35,000 cheque to campaign team members Pat Down and Chuck Erb. Part of the community Goderich Aircraft Inc. made South Huron our home many years ago but our existence and success was tied to the future of the airport and renewing our lease with the Ontario Realty Corporation. We have been building the business since a major interruption at 9/11. With most of our work coming from the USA, the appreciation of the Canadian dollar for the past four years has put further pressure/risk into our future in South Huron. With the recent purchase of the airport and our hangar combined with the growth of our business in the corpo- rate jet market we feel we have a solid future. We are grateful for the relationships we have built locally and the help and encouragement from many community supporters. We certainly feel a sense of pride and ownership when we invest in our community. We have been made to feel very important and an integral part of this community by politicians, local business owners, the Chamber of Commerce, ETM Television and individuals with a driven desire to pro- mote and build this community. Our donation to the South Huron Hospital Foundation is in part our way of saying "Thank you." BLAINE FIELD President On behalf of all staff at Goderich Aircraft Inc. Clarkes grateful for care We will be forever grateful to the dedicated doctors and nurses of the Emergency Department, x-ray department, clinic and Home Care help of South Huron Hospital where Tim has received the best of care during the past three years. He has made a good recovery and at 90 years young is still enjoying his hobby of painting. This is the best word I know to explain my experience as Campaign Co-ordi- nator. I have had the opportunity to meet and work with wonderful people. Some donate their time and talents for their hospital and community; staff who are a hardworking committed team supporting each other and working for the betterment of the hospital and the community we serve. This is truly a great place to work. The community support for the hospital and the Foundation Campaign is amazing! Money has arrived unsolicited with notes of appreciation for staff and services. The community support gives the team here a greater sense of pride and we thank you. There have been many changes in the last two years; changes necessary to keep cur- rent with technology, regulations and most importantly changes to improve care and services to our community. The $1.3 million digital x-ray system provides access to x-rays for doctors at any facility. The Emergency Department renovations are needed to meet infection control standards and increase patient flow, privacy, and security. The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care is providing $1 million for these renovations, but we need to raise $300,000 for necessary patient equipment for the newly renovated Emergency Department. It is only with the support of the community we serve that we are able to provide the quality care and services our community deserves. We are off to a great start; please support us in making this campaign a great success!
