Mosquitoes win in 10
PORT DOVER — "In
one of the best games I
have ever been involved
in as a coach in minor
baseball, the Lucan
WOBA Mosquito team
won a 10 inning thriller
over Ingersoll 8-7 to
win the "B"
Championship in the
Port Dover
Tournament," said
coach Mike Thompson.
Catcher Ben John
threw a runner out at
second in the top of the
ninth to end a threat
and there were 6 1/3
outstanding innings
pitched by David
Thompson as well as
Tyler Richardson pitch-
ing scoreless ninth and
10th innings
Jessica Wakefield had
a great game at the
plate , said Thompson,
going two for four
including a game tying
two -run triple in the
bottom of the sixth and
David Thompson went
three for four with
three runs scored.
Other strong perfor-
mances were Spencer
Talbot coming up with
his first hit of the season
to drive in a run as well
as solid defensive plays
by Blake Dekok,
MacKenzie Hayter,
Ryan Cartwright,
Keagan Cory-Schaule,
Darcy Jones and Justin
McPhee which kept the
game close.
Thompson said "this
win was no doubt a
team effort– a great
defensive ball game.
Ben John lead off the
10th inning with a walk,
stole second base and
advanced to third on a
ground ball by Keagan.
"This brought Tyler to
the plate and with two
strikes he hit a solid line
drive to left centre to
bring in the winning
run. It was a great
game by all the play-
ers."
