Jessica Bickel)
Jessica Bickel) has had four enjoyable years at South
Huron. She has been a member of the girls hockey
team since grade 10, obtaining a bronze medal at
OFSAA the same year and attending OFSAA for the
second time in grade 12. She was also a member of
the girl's golf team for three years. In grade 12 she
joined the peer tutor and prefect programs.
While Jessica has been busy with extra -curricular
activities, she has managed to maintain her grades.
She earned the top mark for MDM 3M and BTA 30,
as well as achieving the honour roll in her last two
years of high school. Her favourite subjects are
Calculus and Phys -Ed, which she looks forward to
studying in the future.
Community service is also important to Jessica. She
has volunteered at Exeter Public School three times
per week during her spare this school year. She also
earned her community service hours time keeping
hockey and basketball.
Outside of school Jessica enjoys hockey, baseball,
ball hockey and spending time with family and friends.
This summer she plans to return to her third year as
a leader at the South Huron and Area Summer
Playground. In the fall Jessica will be attending Brock
University for the Junior/Intermediate Concurrent
Education program where she will complete an
Honours BSc and a BEd at the same time. She hopes
this path will lead her to becoming an elementary
school teacher. Jessica is the daughter of Lynn and
Jim Bickel).
Artemysia Fragiskatos
Artemysia Fragiskatos is honoured to have been
nominated for student of the year. She has thorough-
ly enjoyed her four years at South Huron, where she
has taken part in many activities. Her favourite has
been being a part of the award-winning music pro-
gram. She has played trombone in all of the bands
and recently was given the opportunity to play the
new bass trombone, also known as Richard.
Artemysia has fond memories of playing on the girl's
soccer team for which she was awarded the most
dedicated player award. She often reminisces about
her time with Reach for the Top, Relay for Life,
Habitat for Humanity, and the Student Council - even
though she still holds the position of premier, she just
likes to reminisce.
Artemysia was honoured to have received the
Stacey Case award. She was involved with two of the
school's productions including 2004's The Farm Show
(stage manager), and 2005's Return to Eden (Julie)
where she said her famous line, "You'll always be my
little monkey!"
Artemysia would like to thank all those who helped
her out throughout her high school career from the
teachers, coaches, high -five givers, to the guy who
always smiles at her in the hall; it's been a great,
worthwhile experience. Artemysia would like to wish
her fellow nominees good luck. Her future plans are
to attend Brock University for Applied Language
Studies with goals of becoming an ESL teacher.
Ally Macgregor is honoured to have been nominated by her peers for Student of the Year. As an
outgoing and enthusiastic individual, Ally has always been involved in many of the extracurricular
activities South District High School has had to offer.
Ally has had a leading role in the school play every year since grade 9, and has played first clar-
inet in both the Senior and Intermediate Concert Bands. The Senior Concert Band recently com-
peted at MusicFest Nationals in Ottawa and was awarded a Gold in sight-reading and a strong

In Grade 1 1, Ally held the position of Secretary of Student Council, and this year she was elect-

the following year Ally assumed the role of Event Co -Chairperson.
Ally is an Honour Roll student and has also represented South Huron District High School in a

Ontario" with Erika Ritter about her prize-winning short story, "Running Is My Life."

United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth Tour. The purpose of the tour is to promote friendship
between all nations and consisted of travelling in Canada
and the United States with over 200 other teenagers
from around the world.
The tour also included a stop in New York City and a
visit to the United Nations. Additionally, Ally is the
Ambassador of the Exeter Fall Fair and will be competing
at the Canadian National Exhibition in August.
Recently, Ally was awarded an Avon Maitland District
School Board Excellence in Public Education Award for
her contributions to the South Huron D.H.S. communi-
ty
Ally teaches clarinet lessons and works part-time at
Exeter Golf Club. Over the years she has also taught
Sunday school and assisted with the youth group at her
church in Crediton. She is especially grateful for all the
support she has found at South Huron District High, par-
ticularly from the excellent teaching staff and her won-
derful friends. In September Ally will be attending
Queen's University, where she has received an entrance
scholarship, and she intends to pursue an Honours
B.A. in Drama. She is the proud daughter of Richard

Kylen Van Osch
Let me start by saying, it is an honour to be nominated for the
Student of the Year Award and I would like to thank my class-
mates.
Throughout my years at South Huron District High School, I
have kept extremely busy with academics, athletics and volunteer-
ing.
First of all, academics have always been very important to me. I
have been on the honour roll from grades nine to twelve.
Furthermore, my academic highlight was winning the Highest
Female Academic Standing Award in grades ten and eleven.
My favourite memory of high school will definitely be playing all
the sports. I have played three sports every year. In grades nine
to eleven, I played on the basketball and volleyball teams, as well as
competing on the track and field team where I specialized in hur-
dles and high jump. This year, I still played on the basketball and
volleyball teams, however I chose to play on the soccer team
instead of competing in track and field. One of my favourite mem-
ories of athletics at SHDHS was when I won two gold medals at
WOSSAA for hurdles in grades nine and ten.
Another memorable moment was when my junior girls basket-
ball team was favoured to lose an important home game against St.
Mikes. Our classmates pumped us up so much with all the cheer-
ing that we ended up smoking them.
GO PANTHERS GO! Sports have definitely been a great way to
meet new friends, keep fit, have fun and - dare I say it - take a
break from class.
Lastly, I have volunteered on the Relay for Life committee in
grades eleven and twelve. The committee organizes the nightlong
event to help raise money for cancer research. I am on the enter-
tainment committee, where I help to organize all the activities for
the night. I have also volunteered at the school during several
tournaments to help referee and keep score.
Outside of school, I have played with many of my classmates on
community hockey and soccer teams from grades nine to eleven.
The last two years I have also played on volleyball teams in London.
One of my greatest accomplishments was making the Forest City
Volleyball Club U18 women's team this year.
Next year, I am attending the University of Guelph to study
Biological Sciences and I hope to play on the varsity volleyball team.
Overall, high school has been a very exciting part of my life and
I will definitely have many fond memories. I would like to thank my
family, friends, classmates, coaches, and teachers for all your help
and support throughout my years at South Huron District High
School.
Throughout my entire high school career I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of various school
activities, clubs and organizations and I have also enjoyed making many close friends at South Huron
District High School.
I have been an active member of at least two school bands each year and have had a great time
learning to play the trumpet, and being part of a group that works together as a team.
Practices for the bands are in the mornings- from three to five times a week. Travelling to the
Music Fest Regionals every year has been a fun (but nerve wracking) experience, and travelling to
the Music Fest Nationals twice has been an even greater challenge and accomplishment. Although
the early mornings are sometimes a killer, I have learned a lot from South Huron's music program
not only about music, but also about myself and about life in general.
When not at an early morning band practice I have also had a great time monitoring the doorways
for hat wearers as a prefect member. Although the prefect shirts are an attractive feature of being a
prefect, helping to raise money for various great causes, by helping with hat days, has been a great
opportunity as well.
The prefects are a great part of South Huron's school spirit, and helping to spread that spirit has
been excellent.
During the spring is when life seems to get even more hectic, and helping to keep me extra busy
during that season is my favourite sport, soccer. I have been a member of South Huron's girl's soc-
cer teams every year of my high school career, and although the players vary from year to year, the
great teamwork and team spirit never fail.

Soccer has been a great place for me to get to know
some of my peers that I would not have had the chance
of knowing, and it has helped supply me with an energy
outlet and keep me part of the school's athletic depart-
ment.
With my teams, I have been able to make it to
WOSSA a couple of times within the past couple of
years, and I hope that as I go there this year the girl's
team will be successful! GO PANTHERS!
My academic career at South Huron has been full of
many interesting courses and I have also had the oppor-
tunity of attending some field trips and events that have
made science and history courses that much more fun.
Although learning obviously plays a key part in the
high school purpose and experience, most of the mem-
ories that I will take with me will involve the people I
have gotten to know and the activities that I have been
able to participate in while at South Huron. Overall,
my times in high school have been full of fun times and
hard work and I look forward to moving on to the
future with good memories of the past.
