Relay for Life in Exeter June 9 and 10
EXETER – The annual Relay for Life is happening again this year on
June 9 and 10 from 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. Hosted at South Huron District High
School, the Relay for Life is a celebration of survival and a tribute to the
lives of loved ones who have been touched by cancer. It's twelve hours of
fun, friendship and fundraising to beat cancer.
The money raised by this event goes to the Canadian Cancer Society,
where it's used to fund research and provide support programs in commu-
nications across the country. As the leading cause of
premature death in Canada, cancer affects everyone,
directly or indirectly. But if we work together we can
fmd ways to prevent it and help those who are fighting
it.
Participants for the Relay for
Life sign up as a team. In this
team you take turns walking,
running or strolling around
the track in a non-compet-
itive relay. When not
walking, there's lots of
fun activities to take
part in.
Two years ago
South Huron's first
Relay for Life was
held. The goal was
to raise $10,000. That
goal was exceeded, with 150
participants raising over $16,000.
The next year 240 participants raised
an impressive $46,000, greatly surpassing the goal of
$20,000.
This year we hope to have the most successful
Relay for Life yet. Our goal is to raise $30,000, which
can be easily achieved with the participation of the
entire community.
Registration forms can be picked up at SHDHS's
main office or downloaded online at
http://amdsb. c a/SHDHS/relayF orLife/.
For more information call 235-0880 or e-mail
relay_2006@hotmail. c om.
So gather up a team and book off June 9th and
10th. Together we can make cancer history. See you
on the track!
