• The planned $11 million Lake Huron water
pipeline to Exeter is part of a larger $350 million
project that will serve 550,000 people with water
from Lake Huron and Lake Erie.
A public meeting was held at the Zurich
Community Centre to explain the Huron Elgin
London Project (HELP), which involves 14 municipal-
ities, including South Huron, Bluewater, Lambton
Shores, Lucan Biddulph and the City of London. The
project will be implemented in phases over 20 years
and will serve the entire region between lakes Huron
and Erie.
APRIL 13
• There has been a flurry of activity in Exeter's
business community in the last few weeks.
There is a large hole at the corner of Main and
Sanders streets after the move of Shoppers Drug
Mart to the north end and the closure of Pizza
Delight. At about the same time, El Veracruz closed,
as did Country Health Foods. Before & After and
Frayne's General Store, farther north on Main
Street, are both closing this month.
APRIL 20
• Programs and supports for people with develop-
mental disabilities are woefully underfunded, and
both Community Living workers and clients are pay-
ing the price, say counselors with Community Living
South Huron.
Barb Dunlop from the Canadian Union of Public
Employees (CUPE) said part of the problem at
Community Living is provincial underfunding.
APRIL 27
• Those in need of a doctor will be pleased with Dr.
Maureen Farrell's arrival.
Farrell opened up her full-time family practice at
the South Huron Medical Centre at the beginning of
April. Farrell previously worked in Exeter in South
Huron Hospital's emergency department and with
Dr. Philip Chan, but this marks her first full-time
family practice.
MAY 4
• Huron County OPP have charged two men with first
degree murder after the remains of 42 -year-old Ronald
Roy Sullivan of London were uncovered in a bush lot
south east of Exeter.
Ronald Douglas Kirk, 25, of London and Donald
Wayne Earhart, 30, of no fixed address, are expected
to appear in Goderich court by Friday. Police say both
men are in custody on unrelated matters in other
areas.
MAY I I
• It looks like a scene from the popular television
show CSI -Crime Scene Investigation.
Huron OPP, assisted by London OPP Forensic
Identification Services, converge on a home in Usborne
Township May 6 armed with a search warrant.
• The extraordinary generosity of a former Exeter
Villa resident has given new life to Trivitt Memorial
Church and has allowed the church to make substan-
tial donations to the community.
Mildred Grimes, originally from Toronto, retired to
the Exeter area in the mid-1980s, and eventually into
the Exeter Villa in the early 1990s, where she lived
until her death at 98 in December 2003. In her will,
Grimes left a whopping $5 million to Trivitt, which had
been facing financial challenges.
As a result of Grimes' bequest, Trivitt's money wor-
ries are a thing of the past.
MAY 18
• South Huron homeowners will see a four per cent
increase in their municipal taxes.
The budget was passed at Monday night's council
meeting, with only Coun. Jim Dietrich voting against it.
Coun. Pete Armstrong was absent.
This year's budget sees the municipality collecting
$3,697,000 from taxpayers, up four per cent from last
year's.
MAY 25
• Council has given the approval needed for the
Hensall District Co-op to make expansions and
improvements to its Main Street gas bar.
Changes will include the addition of a self serve gas
bar island; the movement of the propane facility to the
southwest line of the property; a 650 square foot build-
ing containing two public washrooms, an office and
vending machines; improved lighting; improved
entranceways to deal with traffic congestion; and the
movement of the Hensall Co-op sign closer to Main
Street on municipal property.
Major changes will be made in 2005-06 to try boost-
ing province -wide success rates in the Ontario
Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT), a standard-
ized Grade 10 assessment that's required for high
school graduation.

PLAN H1-3-594 Deceptively Modest Deceptively modest from the outside, this two -bedroom -plus -den family home packs a big
punch, spatially speaking. The front door opens onto a compact foyer with 12_ -foot ceilings. There is a display cabinet located over the
coat closet on the left. Opposite is a roomy den with a bay window, and beyond are stairs going down to the basement (unfinished).
From here, a slight dogleg leads under an archway to the combination great room -kitchen -dining area. The great room, with a built-in
fireplace flanked by an entertainment unit, is separated from the kitchen only by an island with a raised eating bar, enabling the cook to
catch the television news and keep tabs on the family. The L-shaped kitchen counter ends at a pantry. Beyond is the dining room, with a
bayed -out space for the table and chairs and glass doors that open onto a covered L-shaped deck. On the other side of the home is the
master suite, with a walk-in closet. Sliding doors open onto a private sundeck. The ensuite features a soaker tub and an enclosed
shower. Two smaller bedrooms boast bay windows and are served by a sky -lit bathroom. The laundry room includes a cupboard for off-
season gear, and has a door into the double garage. Ceilings, except in the foyer, are nine feet. Exterior finishes include river rock, wood
siding and painted trim. Windows are partially mullioned, and painted pillars with river -rock bases mark the front veranda. The gabled
roof -line provides interest. This home is 45 feet wide and 62 feet, eight inches deep, for a total of 1688 square feet. Plans include an
